Project Life 2019 | August Bi Monthly No 02 ft Project Life Stories
Hello Lovelies and welcome back to our 2019 Project Life album! Last week I shared layout 01 from August, and today I will share the second layout. I am working with the Stories kit from Project Life, designed by Krista Sahlin, plus the embellishments from the Click kit, also designed by Krista for Becky Higgins. If you’d like to see more of my process videos from this project, click this link here: Larkindesign Project Life 2019. Follow along with my process here.
These two weeks marked the end of summer for us, and back to school. There were quite a few different photos and I was excited to have a few square photos that I printed slightly smaller to fit on a journal card. We also had two birthdays, Alan’s and Addison’s, during this time, plus the usual beginning of year rush. Lots of great stories!
Starting with my date card, which became the starting point for my color palette for this layout, I chose this yellow patterned card. I added the black puffy sticker alphabet from Felicity Jane so that the date would pop. Then to add a bit of red I added one tiny chipboard word strip as well. The 3×4 card below also repeats all the colors that will appear in this layout, with a fun pattern that adds so much visual interest!
I am continuing my commitment throughout 2019 to actually appear in our family albums! We found ourselves at the Home Depot purchasing mulch, and I found myself hopping onto the cart being silly. I want my children to know that I was the kind of person to do silly things sometimes! I also loved having some sqaure photos, and they are printed to 3.5×3.5 and layered over a journal card. This wood grain card fascinated me because it offers a bit of white space to add a stamp, some journaling, and even a chipboard piece.
We had a date night as well, so I included that photo. The turquoise journal card is perfect for journaling, and you guys know how much I love having lines to journal on!
The right hand side continues the color story and so many fun elements!
First off, this photo of Nick and Emberlynn together makes me so incredibly happy. They are at open house comparing schedules and figuring out home rooms and teachers and they look so grown up! This is Emberlynn’s first year in high school, and I am glad she has her two brothers there with her.
Another square photo layered on top of a journal card here, this one was a bit different and still fun! Actually this photo was from our arcade adventures in the previous layout, but I decided to include it here because it’s one of my favorites. I also did a flip up for the 3×4 photo of Alan and Zoe, our cat who takes up residence in his lap every day. You can see how that came together in the process video.
Addison had his 16th birthday and kept it pretty low key this year. He wanted money and to hang out with his friends, so I took a snapshot of him opening his card. I guess this is how it will be from here on out for us, as they age out of the family birthdays. He is looking so grown up here too, and I am so proud. Notice the red diagonal journal card, and how I added my journaling. I love that pop of diagonal lines!
Florals are my favorites, so I added this beautiful blue floral as a simple 3×4 card. It didn’t need anything added to it. The photo next to it tells the story of Nick, who is taking AP Chemistry downtown this year. He goes to a campus that has two high schools and a college and he is loving it. I also had one more journal card, the 4×6 one, that I added a bit of graph paper from another card so I could journal (you know, lines again).
And the layout is complete! Thank you so much for joining me today! I loved sharing this process with you! See you again soon!
