Hello Disney Fans and welcome back to our 2020 Disney Album! I am so excited to continue working on this project and today we are swimming right over to Epcot and Journey Into Imagination With Figment! This month the featured kit over at Sahlin Studio is Innovation, which is perfect for any Epcot story. Are you interested in learning more about how this album came together? Join us in our newest class, In My Pocket Theme Parks Edition! You can also see all of the layouts featured here on the blog through this link: Larkindesign Disney 2020 Album Project. We all love this ride so much! Figment is adorable and the colors and elements of the ride make it a great adventure. I began my layout with a digital title card that I created in Photoshop using one of the patterned papers from Innovation. I added a plain white rectangle over the paper, and then spelled out Figment with the alphabet in the kit. I also added the arrow and then printed my card. For a hybrid element, I added the rest of the title using some puffy alphas from Pinkfresh Studio. I also added a tiny bit of red washi tape, just to make the card pop a bit.
I also brought in a few journal cards from Project Mouse Vibes, like these two below. The red stars are from Studio Calico and the wooden word Magic is Elle’s Studio. Below that is one of my favorite photos of Figment in his balloon!
I had so much fun taking photos on this trip. Some people go for the rides, some go for the food (me too!) but I go to take tons of photos too. These photos were taken with my iPhone and I loved how easy it was to use it even in different lighting conditions. I LOVED being able to take photos on the rides themselves without having to obsess about shutter speed and f stop! Ha! For this darker photo I also added a word art as an overlay in Photoshop, to make it not so dark on the layout.
Another photo with Figment, and another journal card from Vibes shown below. I really liked how my photos captured this experience: I have five photos from the ride itself, one of the outside, one of the kids waiting outside, and one of the kids actually on the ride. This is great story telling with photos, and if you are traveling to Disney, planning what photos you want to take, this is a great plan. I don’t have all of these photos for every ride we went on, but it’s fun to have these!
For my journaling on this layout, I focused on a few things I heard as we were planning our trip and while we were on the ride itself. Mostly feelings, how some of the children felt, how I felt about it, favorite parts of it.
I love this photo of the kids waiting outside. It was challenging this time, to get photos of them altogether. I didn’t push it, but sometimes I did get a photo on the sly. Haha. The rings on this photo are part of the digital elements in the Innovation kit. I wasn’t sure about using it along with the white border, but in the end I think it looks fun!
I was also glad to get just one photo of the kids actually on one of the rides! They were all about exploring the parks and going back and forth to the hotel via the skyliners (they did that over and over again!). But I sat behind them on this one and got a photo that way. The journal card below is another patterened paper from Innovation, with a label layered on top. The red stars tie it into the layout and draw your eye to that card.
The upside down room might have been my favorite! I am a trained interior designer, and this part fascinated me! So much fun! The wood stars and wood veneer “so much fun” piece are both Elle’s Studio.
One final card, again created with one of the patterned papers from the Innovation kit. I added another word art at the top before printing, and then repeated the red washi tape as a hybrid element. Once I added my journaling, the layout was done!
Thank you so much for joining me today! These layouts are so much fun and I am glad to have you following along! See you again soon!
