October Daily 2022 Days 07 Through 09
Hi friends and welcome back to October Daily 2022! Today I have Days 07 through 09 to share with you! I am loving the pace I’m going at for this project, just creating 3 layouts in the album per week, and am finding that the pages come together so quickly. It’s so much fun! Thank you so much for following along with me in this daily project, you’ve left the loveliest notes and comments and I know you’re going to love today’s pages. If you’d like to see the rest of this album, you can go to this link: October Daily 2022. Let’s start with Day 07 right now!
Day 07 | The One Where I Turned Us Into Skeletons To Ride the Roller Coaster:
For our date night on Friday night, we ventured off to the Carolina Classic Fair. I’m not one for rides, but I do love food and I especially love taking photos and seeing all the lights. I had an idea to turn us into skeletons and put us on a roller coaster, on paper of course, so that is how this layout began. I paired the insert with papers and elements from Traci Reed’s October Mood digital kit for a super fun, interactive layout! The cut files can be purchased from the Silhouette Design Store, the skeletons are from Studio Illustrado: Happy Halloween Skeletons CardĀ and from Miss Kate Cuttables: Roller Coaster. They paired perfectly together, and so what I did was mirror the girl skeleton so they’d both be facing the same way. I also offset the track on the coaster cut file so it would create a little groove. I adhered the coaster to a transparency (an old one from Allison Kreft for Webster’s Pages) and cut a slit for the skeletons to ride on. I attached the skeletons to the roller coaster cars and then added little paper tabs to the back. They do actually slide down the coaster! Aren’t they adorable?!
For my photos, I created several places and ways to tell this story. I had the back of Day 06, which was two 3×8 pockets, so first I did a traveler’s notebook signature from the October Mood collection alongside a photo of the Ferris wheel lit up at night. Then behind the skeleton insert, I did a full page collage with a flip out. The number for the day ended up on this photo of me with the giant funnel cake, do you like that?! Ha! You can also see the back of the transparency here, and how I added those tabs for the skeletons to slide on the coaster.
When you open the flip out, you find another traveler’s notebook signature and a very simple photo collage. To create the collage, I opened up a canvas for the whole page size and then created a smaller rectangle inside that. I brought in three photos and three journal cards (the Here for the Food card is from Traci Reed’s Foodie kit!) and sized everything down to fit in that space. I then print4ed everything out, put the flip out together, and added these fun embellishments from the October Mood collection.
Day 08 | The One Where Nick Came Home:
The story of this day sort of tells itself, Nick came home for a visit from college in NY, and he made his first solo flight! We were so excited to see him and it was awesome to get to hang out with him. This will be the story for the next two days, and it was nice to be able to go ahead and document these stories right now! I printed a full page photo for the layout, and then decided to cut it down just a bit to make room for journaling. This is such a simple but straight-forward way to do a page!
I pulled some random embellishments from my stash along with one of the patterned papers from Heidi Swapp last year. The paper is a simple ledger pattern, which is perfect for journaling. I tucked some strips of patterned paper underneath the photo and I was super stoked about the little Frankenstein head! Those were so fun to just tuck in here and there. After adding my words, I also stamped a few sentiments and the bats directly onto the photo, and that finished this page up quickly!
Day 09 | Donut Worry!
It’s no secret by now that our family loves to grab donuts, and of course while Nick was home he wanted Krispy Kreme! So I took a photo of him and turned him into a donut for this page! Ha! I found this adorable cut file by Jillibean Soup on the Silhouette Design Store: Donut Worry Be Happy I cut it three times from different Simple Stories patterned papers so that I had some choices for the layout. I chose an older black polka dot transparency for the base page, so that made it pretty fun as a see through element! For the photo, I cut it into the circle to fit underneath one of the donuts in the cut file. I folded the top circle a bit so it could flip up and I love how just Nick’s eye pops through! The number is a very simple number tag from Sahlin Studio, and that was it! I did cover the cut file on the back, I will show that with Day 10 next week.
Thanks so much for joining me this week for more of October Daily! See you again soon!
