October Daily 2021 Days 10 Thru 12

Hi friends and welcome back to October Daily!! Today I am sharing three days from my 2021 album, namely Days 10 thru 12! I am having so much fun documenting these stories, it has been great to spend time with an album that doesn’t have to take itself seriously and can be funny and meaningful all at the same time. If you’d like to see more inspiration from this album project, check out the link here: 2021 October Daily. Follow along with my process below!

Day 10:

My story from Day 10 was a trip to our local mall, Hanes Mall in Winston Salem. The kids wanted to go so they could check out Hot Topic and I am always up for a trip to Box Lunch. I’ve kept this page really simple and just added a 3×8 pocket page. I printed my photo as a full page, to bring my subjects into focus, and added just a few embellishments and the day number at the bottom. The digital kit I’ve used is a new one from The Cut Shoppe, called October Lane! I was so excited to see Ashley creating products again, they are so fun to work with. My number 10 is from Colorcast Designs. This was part of a December Daily release in previous years.

My journaling is found on the back of the page, I started with a full patterned paper background from the kit, added the frame for my words, and then did a cascade of spooky embellishments coming down the page! I also used the BOO title art here! So fun!

Day 11:

On this day, we did such a quintessential fall thing and that called for quintessential fall products. We roasted marshmallows on the back deck. Alan and I worked hard throughout the year to create this little oasis in our backyard, and adding the fire pit was the best part. I opted to use some fall-themed items from Studio Calico for this page, so follow along with my process here.

Since the last few pages were pretty labor intensive, I’ve decided to do a few more simple pocket pages. I printed out my photo at 4×6 and grabbed a 3×4 and 4×6 pocket page to house this story. That gave me two great 3×4 pockets to play with! I began with the circle card and thought it would be fun to just layer different elements onto each of these fun circles, including stamps, leaves I cut from another journal card, wood leaves, and a few enamel dots. For the second card, I chose this wood grain card and used the bottom part for my words. I then punched and stamped the tab as an embellishment along with the wood leaf, another cut out leaf, and enamel dots. For my day number, I chose an Ali Edwards chipboard number and stamped directly on top of it. A few more enamel dots, and this page was done!

Day 12:

My layout for Day 12 was driven by the photo. I had this random photo of Nick and Alan in the kitchen, Alan probably doing dinner prep and Nick is probably spoiling his dinner with snacks (ha!) and when I looked back in my notes, I couldn’t find a specific story to go with this photo. So I decided to do a tongue in cheek page and brought in a cut file and I love how it turned out. Check out the process below.

I found this cut file in the Silhouette Design Store and love it. Our kitchen is a gathering spot in our home so many days and it’s where a lot of things happen, and I loved that I captured this random, candid photo of these two spooky boos. This cut file is from Jillibean Soup, and you can find it here: Witch’s Kitchen Cut File. I’ve cut it from plain black card stock and used the positive space. I trimmed it out and punched holes so it could go right into the album as its own insert. It is quite stunning, don’t you think?! To go with the cut file, I chose some of the products from last year’s Cocoa Daisy Halloween kit. They went perfectly together here!
