October Daily 2021 Days 07 Thru 09
Hi friends and welcome back to October Daily 2021! Today I am sharing layouts from Days 07 thru 09! This will make the album almost a third of the way done, and I am having so much fun with these cute pages! These layouts are almost making themselves, and sharing them with you is the frosting on the cupcake. If you’d like to see the previous posts from this project, click this link: October Daily 2021.
Day 07
For Day 07 I decided to share how I was playing along with the Instagram filters for Halloween! These were some hilarious selfies that I just took screen shots directly from the app itself and printed out to 2.5″ circles. Follow along with my process video for Day 07 below.
My page concept was really simple for this page: punch out the photos, back them with these fun cupcake liners (from Michaels), and adhere them to the page in a simple grid pattern. I decided to use a Heidi Swapp polka dot paper as the background, one because it was cute and two because it was circles on circles. Ha! I wanted to keep the page to 6×8 size, so I made it a flip-out. I didn’t want these photo circles to compete with the Mickey spider head from Day 06, so I had it open on the back side. This is what you see when you flip the layout open.
This is what you see when you turn the page to Day 07, the closed flip out and one photo, plus the number 07. It’s a little like a treasure hunt and it keeps you interacting with the album!
And then this is what is behind the Mickey spider head from Day 06. I adhered the Simple Stories plaid as a full page and then added the cute little vignette using stickers from Spooky Nights. I made it a little bit like our house, with the tree and the black cat in the front yard. So cute!
Day 08
My story for Day 08 was all about our fireplace mantel. I decided to use one of the Foundation Pages I had created which was a plaid vellum from Felicity Jane. I had already added the punched circles to create the scallop edge, and it made the perfect backdrop for a 5×7 photo. See this process video below.
Day 09
My story for Day 09 was the funny memes that had been going around the socials during that time! I had the back of Day 08 to work with, and it made the perfect back drop for a pocket. I approached this side the same as the front, keeping the elements of the page to 5×7, allowing the number 9 to fall off the page a bit, and embellishments across the bottom. Keeping it simple but really cute! Check out this process video here.
I made the pocket so quickly, with just a strip of patterned paper which is from Fancy Pants A Little Scary collection. I folded in both sides just a bit and applied my adhesive to the flaps and also across the bottom, and then adhered it directly to the vellum. I also used a circle punch to punch out the little half circle so it felt like a library pocket. I love that patterned paper so much! But it does make the background a little busy, so I tried to keep the embellishments to black and white. The journaling spot is from Heidi Swapp, the skeleton from Simple Stories Happy Haunting, the puffy stickers are Fancy Pants, and the chipboard stars from Studio Calico.
You can see below the memes I included. This is such a fun way to document the things that we take for granted every day, but one day we will look back at these and laugh, having long forgotten about them. The memes are just 2.25″ square printed on a 5×5″ card stock.
