Hi everyone and welcome to a blog series created by our design team and designed to inspire you for Light The Path! This is our creative workshop that will help you document a year of healing. You can learn more about this dynamic project here: Light The Path. Today we have Zakirah, who will be sharing her Light The Path Introduction page from her project. You can see more of her stunning work at her blog here: This Beautiful Life. Welcome Zakirah!
I’m Zakirah Zakaria and I’m really grateful to be part of the Light the Path 2021 Design Team. I’m from Malaysia and live here with my husband and soon-to-be-born baby. I’m so excited to write my very first post here and share my first pages as an LTP DT member!
A little bit about myself, I’ve been doing digital scrapbooking since 2007. It began accidentally as I was searching for materials for a university assignment on ‘subculture’. My scrapbook style has evolved throughout the years, from highly elaborate to a more minimalist style (as you will see in the upcoming images). I scrap mostly in 12″x12″ format, but for Light the Path workshop, I’m doing 8″x8″ format because it feels more personal to me and is easier to keep on the shelf. Plus, I’ve done a few book-of-me style albums in the past in this size, so this will be like a continuation to that.
So, let’s move on to my introduction layouts.
The project consists of 3 pocket-style layouts where I document about my current struggles with being 8-month pregnant (oh, the hormonal changes!) and how I cope with them. Here’s the first two pages:
A closer look at the first layout where I journaled about the struggles:
And the second page where I documented some of the coping techniques that I used. I also included a scan image of our baby girl:
Finally, here’s the third layout where I listed down two things that I’m grateful for:
For this project, I used Light the Path Workshop’s August 2020 kit made by Sahin Designs. It has an embellishment pack and a pocket cards pack themed around the courage to move forward. I love the colour palette – deep blue mixed with soft pink, cream, earthy brown and green. I think it’s perfect for scrapbooking about how we cope and stay positive amidst personal fears and struggles.
So that’s about it. Thank you for reading! I hope that you feel inspired to start documenting your own healing journey. You can join us in the Light the Path workshop by subscribing here.
Have a great week ahead and take care!
