Light The Path Design Team Ashley Krueger | September 2021 Timeline

Hi friends! It’s Ashley back to share my art journal page for the September Light the Path prompts. To me, this month was about recognizing the connections between my past and present and how skills I’ve developed throughout the years are serving me through my healing process. Part of my healing right now is finding and enjoying personal peace.

For this page, instead of specific dates, I wanted to highlight locations where I feel at peace. I started by printing a blank timeline card from Allison Pennington’s kit on an 8.5×11 sheet of mixed media paper. Then, I started adding the watercolor. Each section, I tried to coordinate the location with a color from the kit. Representation of each location, is laid out chronologically from left to right based on my first visit to each place.

To embellish the timeline, I used the various labels and text boxes from the kit. I used the same label color as each of the sections of watercolor. For numbers 1-4, I wrote the name of the locations on the thinner heart labels. On the larger boxes, I wrote down the qualities and features of each location. For the last space, I stamped “right here” to note my current goal of finding and creating peace, quiet, and strength within myself, wherever I am.

I added this page directly into my album, opposite of my pocket page. To make it fit, I scored and folded the page at the same width as the pocket pages. On the backside of the fold, I added the pattern from one of the cards with a photo from one of the locations over top. I chose the muted pattern and minimal embellishing to match the look of the pocket page.
