Hi everyone! Zakirah here from Light the Path design team and today, I’m excited to share my October project inspired by this month’s theme which is “Then and Now”. In a nutshell, we are delving deeper into the theme of changes in our healing journey. Who are you at the core? What kind of changes do you want to make? These are among the questions that we will be pondering about throughout the month. Here’s a preview of my project pages:
Our kit this month is designed by Mandy Ford. I love the cheerful, pastel colour palette that she used. It gives me a retro, sunny, and cheerful vibe, which I think is perfect for the positive theme that we’re doing this month. In my monthly opening page, I incorporated the rainbow card, word arts, and cute polaroid graphic from this kit to go with the large photo of myself and my baby girl. I wrote the title of our theme at the bottom right of the photo and finished off the page with some flowers and leaves by Allison Pennington, and glitter splat by Deena Rutter.
Next, on the first page of my monthly spread, I used the cute graphics and cards by Mandy Ford again. I also used a card by Sahin Design, which is the one titled “Something About Me” which is located next to the photo. I love the “Own my successes” word art a lot, so I used it to document my recent success which is having my article accepted for publication in a local academic journal (yay!). I included a photo of the publication certificate (the one with red wavy pattern) next to the journaling. On the second card, I added a journaling that is based on our workbook exercise for this month where we reflect on the question “Who are you truly at your core?”. I think this prompt is so powerful because in this social media age where we compare ourselves to the curated ‘realities’ of other people on our feed, we tend to forget who we are. Next to the card is a photo of me and my baby at the clinic during her 9-month old baby checkup. She has surely grown so fast!
On the second page of my monthly spread, I included a selfie that I took with my baby’s romper. This was part of this month’s photography exercise, which is to take a selfie everyday for five days and meditate afterwards, and then spend five minutes to journal about what’s on our mind. I was folding my baby’s clothes at that time and was thinking about the to-do lists for the day, which I journaled on the card next to the photo. Then, under the photo, I added a card by Elif Sahin and added a journaling from the workbook exercise. Lastly, I finished the page off with the same flower cluster (gotta save time!), camera graphic by Mandy Ford and “Photos” word art by One Little Bird.
Here’s how the pages look like as a spread:
So that’s my project for October! Personally, this is my favourite theme so far and the workbook exercises have sparked some meaningful self-reflections. I hope this sharing has inspired you in your own healing journey. Do join us in the workshop and let’s light the path together. Take care and wishing you a blessed month ahead!
