Light The Path Design Team Akansha Sahgal | October 2021 Then and Now
Hey everyone,
Another month and another lovely prompt to work with in Light The Path workshop. First things first, I was so happy when I saw the beautiful kit for this month designed by Mandy Ford. I loved all the illustrations and the colors of this particular kit. There was some instant connection that I felt with this one. Maybe it had so many stationery illustrations and being a stationery addict I felt so attracted to it.
Okay so enough of drooling on the kit and coming to the topic of telling you how I did this month’s layout. I think it’s becoming a habit to create layouts on pages which are basically journal cards printed on full size copy paper. I got this pretty journal card printed for this layout as well. The very first thing I did was cut out two polaroid frames from the kit and added two of my photos in them. Also I went ahead and cut out different sentiments that I wanted to add to the layout along with some elements.

Now was the tome to work on my favorite element in this layout. When I first saw the journal book element, I instantly wanted to give it a look of a book that can be opened. I separated the black pages part from the front cover and created a hinge to the cover. I went ahead and pasted the black part on a white sheet of paper and attached it to the cover along the hinge to make the flip. I then went ahead and pasted a sentiment that said “Own my Success” to cover the hinge line (as I messed up with the hinge a bit). After that I went ahead with arranging everything in the layout using glue and foam tape. I used the rainbow strip as a washi tape on the bottom left corner.

On the top part I added a rainbow element which I used to write down the date of creating the element. On the top right corner, I added three sentiments: Remember, Reframe and Redefine. I went with these three words as it acts as a reminder for me that I have to remember what things happened then, I have to reframe my way of handling things and thus redefine my now. It makes me understand that the person who can make our “now” better than our “then” is only us and no one else. We have the biggest role to play to make our lives the best version that they can be.
I hope you all liked my take on this month’s prompt along with my layout. I’ll meet you all with another layout the next month.
