December Daily | Days 05 and 06
Hi friends and welcome back to December Daily 2021! Today I am sharing Days 05 and 06 with you, which are both all about the task of decorating this Christmas tree! I was so excited to put our tree up this year in our newly decorated living room, and we also found some pretty new ornaments, so those stories became the driver for these pages. If you’d like to see more about this album project, check out the link here: December Daily Album 2021.
Day 05 | Wonder
I had a brand-new page to work with for Day 05, and I also knew I needed to keep things simple, so I started with the Wonder Ali Edwards Photo Template: December Daily 2021 Digital 10×8 Layered Templates. I changed a few things up about it: I’ve made the photo full size and printed that all on its own onto printer paper. The other layers – the word art, the definition, and journaling – live on the top layer and were printed onto vellum along with the number 05 and patterned paper. Those elements are from Sahlin Studio Comfy Cozy Are We collection.
Here you can see the spread in the album:
Day 06 | Deck The Halls
I couldn’t wait this year, after waiting so long for our sofa, to get the tree up and to see the living room newly decorated for Christmas! As soon as it was all done, I took this photo and knew I had to pair it with the paper tree page! The paper tree was created using Elle’s Studio patterned papers and puffy stickers, and so I pulled from my Elle’s Studio stash to complete this layout. I printed the photo full page, at 8.25×11, to go on the back of Day 05. That became the home for my journaling.
I ended up doing a circle collage on top of the tree photo. Using red circle labels, some chipboard circles, and some chipboard word strips, I developed this cluster directly onto my photo. You can see the journaling, which I added after filming. We chose primarily red decorations for the tree this year, and it pops so pretty against our flocked tree! I do a slightly different tree each year, and I love telling the story of how the color palette was chosen for the tree in this album.
I couldn’t wait to incorporate this paper tree foundation page into my album. It turned out so pretty all on its own, and so technically it didn’t really need a thing! But I did decide to stamp a little on the background using some of my Elle’s Studio stamp sets. Mostly any stamp that had a star on it got used. Ha! I also added the Falala across the bottom, and the number 6 (from Felicity Jane Bella). I also added a few more gold stars around the tree, the larger one at the top for a tree topper, and the tiny one on the 6 as well. Are there enough stars here? I’m not sure, there could be room for more!
How is your December going? We are just at the place where I recommend taking an assessment of how your schedule is looking, and how does this album project fit in with your schedule? It’s ok if you are barely taking photos, it’s ok if you are making pages left and right, or if you’re plugging along like me somewhere in the middle. See you back here again soon!
