I hope you all are doing great and I am so excited to share another layout inspiration with you all. The August prompt was one of those prompts that makes you sit and think about what you want to say or write. For me, scrapbooking is something that I started doing to preserve the memories of past and present to cherish in the future times. But this prompt made me think one step further and write a message to my future self. When I sat to work on this prompt, I was so excited to share a message to my future self. I was thinking that message should bring a smile to my face whenever I go through this in the future.
When I saw the kit designed by Allison, my eyes fell on the gorgeous typewriter images. I immediately though that if I am writing a message for my future self why not use a typewriter for that. I printed my typewriter on a letter sized paper in the desired size. Now before doing anything else I needed to make my boring white sheet look interesting. I had this beautiful gold paper that I cut out in strips that were almost 1/2 inches wide. I pasted them in an abstract manner with a simple glue stick. Then I went ahead and worked on my typewriter image.
I added my photo along with some elements from the kit on the paper part. I wanted to give a feel that the message is coming from the typewriter. And after completing my mini layout in the typewriter paper, I added the two cute birdies on top. After that it was time to add two important words for a reminder: Thrive and Comfort. I made it look like the birds are sending the reminder out. The two words for me signify that I need to keep thriving and achieve my goals but at the same time I need to stay a comfortable lifestyle which gives me peace of mind. According to me, such one word reminders sometimes have more power than those long paragraphs.
Now I just wrote down my message and once done I added the typewriter in the center with some foam tape. The foam tape really helped the typewriter to pop and shine from the busy golden background. And yes to tone down the gold and bring some cohesiveness in the layout I added a washi strip from the kit on the bottom part of the sheet. I hope you liked this layout and feel inspired to talk to your future self and tell them how strong they’ve been this whole time.
