Guys, I’m so excited for the new In My Pocket Theme Parks Volume 02 that I convinced Theresa to let me jump in and share even more of my projects. Over the next few weeks I’ll be popping up here on the blog AND within each module to talk magical memories, share my process/progress, and host the challenges on the IMP Facebook Group. No such thing as too many Disney pages right???

I make at least one spread in my Disney 2018 album every month, but prepping for this workshop always kicks up my inspiration levels. With all those ideas swirling around I decided to make it simple—why not have my first blog post actually be the first page? While this makes sense to pretty much everyone, I’m notorious for never making pages in a practical order. I had been messing around with cover ideas for well over a year now and this was the kick I needed to commit.

I keep telling myself to stop making transparent/acetate covers but I just can’t help it. When I saw this cut file by Paige Evans I knew what had to happen. I already had the 12×12 photo in place and added another protector with acetate to the front. To make it easier to glue, I cut one image out of patterned paper and then ‘mirrored’ another out of cardstock. That allowed me to adhere to either side of the acetate without it being visible. I had originally intended the white for the back but I ended up preferring it in the front and flipped the whole thing.

Now when you turn the page you can appreciate the full gloriousness of the gradated purple and the unobstructed 12×12 photo. It is bold and intricate and it stands its ground next to the castle. Just a little bit of the journal card peeks through from the other side but I adhered it at a jaunty angle to make it look more intentional.

The current trend of adhering a pocket to the outside of a larger protector was just the element needed to tie up this page. I stuck the details card to the back of the pretty castle (both Elle’s Studio Magical Memories) and slipped it in. Because the front was mostly white and clear, I added a heavy black stamped title (Studio Calico) and the year. Because the back was mostly black, I added a few fun pops of pink.

So excited to finally have a cover page for this project that brings me such joy. So excited to kick off In My Pocket Theme Parks 02. The first module is live July 15, but pre-sales start NOW. Join us and see what magic is brewing! – Meg
