IMP Design Team Maribeth Lysen | Discover Life Collection Hybrid Pocket Pages

This month, we have the wonderfully whimsical collection, “Discover Life” from the Practical Scrapper https://theresamoxley.com/product/discover-life/. I love the sketchbook vibe and the color pallet from the collection, full of rich teal, mustard yellow, pinky-peach and pops of navy blue. It’s perfect as we move into full spring and transition into summer.

I started this layout working digitally in Photoshop CC using a 9×12 pocket page template I created myself based on the physical page protectors I use from Scrapbook.com. I start by pulling my photos into Photoshop and doing any needed editing and resizing of my photos. Next I open the journal cards and papers from the collection I knew I want to use, generally whatever cards/papers are my favorite from the collection. I knew I wanted to work in the quote card and dot paper somewhere on my layout. Here’s what my layout looks like in Photoshop CC before I start printing.

To do my title card, I used the dot paper and then took the label from one of the journaling cards and added it to my 3×4 spot.  While working on my pages this month, I rediscovered a font I love, “KG All of Me” https://www.dafont.com/kg-all-of-me.font It gives the look of stamped lettering but without all the fuss of breaking out my stamps. I used this stamp font on several of my cards for this layout to help pull the week’s spread together. I used that to note the dates for this week and choose one of the dusty blue colors from the collection to use as my font color. After I printed my card, I used a puffy sticker and some sparkly enamel dots from Coca Daisy.

One thing I love to do when working hybrid is print out the different digital layers separately.  That way, I can layer them in real life once I print everything. This helps give my layout depth and dimension. I did that on this spread with the “Watching” journaling card created using part of the stripped 12×12 paper #4 from the collection placed on a 3×4 spot. I used that same “KG All of Me” font, this time in the same navy blue as the collection, to add the “Currently Watching” to the card. Then I printed out the card. I took the screen shot of the show were were watching that week, Netflix’s Big Mouth spin-off show “Human Resources”, and printed  out the screen shot separately. After both pieces were printed, I glued down the screen shot of the show to the journaling card I printed out.

I used the 3×4 journaling card to do my weekly roundup of what happened that week. Using that same KG All of Me font to make the title “Notes” on my card look like stamping. This time I used the color picker to select the same mustard yellow from the collection for my font color. I used a typewriter font for the main journaling to keep things easy. Once the card was printed, I added 2 chipboard hearts from Studio Calico.

For the rest of my embellishing, I added some enamel dots scattered around the page to help pull both sides together. I used some additional chipboard pieces and a couple of tiny word stickers from Coca Daisy and Studio Calico. Lastly, I decided to add some additional journaling to my doughnut photo by taking a label from the In My Pocket Collab Theme Parks Volume 03 Digital Kit (Bundle). I changed the color to match the pink from this collection and then added the words with my stamp font. Next I printed and fussy cut the label adhering it to my photo. I’m really happy with how that one turned out!
