Disney 2020 Scrapbook Album | Documenting Rafiki’s Planet Watch
Hey everyone and welcome back to our Disney 2020 Scrapbook Album Project! Today we are hopping on Rafiki’s train to see the animals at Animal Kingdom and learn more about Disney’s conservation efforts. If you’d like to see the other videos and layouts in this series, follow along via this link here: Larkindesign Disney 2020 Album. Let’s climb on board!

This layout was made so easy using the Project Mouse Animal collection. I particularly pulled elements with yellow, red, and brown from this kit to give it that rugged but happy feel. I have to admit that this part of the park is a stark contrast to the glam of other Disney parks! But it was fun and we had a great time, and I am so glad to get it documented in our album!
Everything on this layout is designed to give a rugged feel, with just a few tiny bits of sparkle. The left side does a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of holding space for the journaling. Let’s take a closer look.
The title card for this layout functions a little different as I have made it a journaling card as well. I added the Rafiki title using alphabet stickers from Studio Calico. Even though I didn’t use a lot of green on this page, it does repeat the green in the cast member’s pants below!
Underneath the title card are two lovely 3×4 cards. For the branch card, I layered a wood circle bit and a gold foil leaf, both from Studio Calico. For the 4×6 card below, I printed one of the patterns from the bundle. My photo is cropped to 3.5 x 3.5 and layered on top, along with a label and another leaf. Label is from Simple Stories Snap!
The girls were with us, and full disclosure, they were bored. Ha! I had a single photo of them hopping on to the train, and I added a label with the sentiment: Not amused. That cracks me up! I also added more journaling on the Field Notes card above it.
This orange card gave me a bit of pause. I left it till last, and decided just to add a simple stamped sentiment vertically to the card. Stamp from Citrus Twist.
The right hand side continues with the rugged theme, and more yellows and oranges from the kit.
Check out our new friends! They really did not want to chat with us, ha! It was a bit crowded in this area, so getting some photos was a challenge. We also didn’t stay long, as the girls wanted to do something else (they wanted to go back to the hotel), so not a ton of photos but enough to include and it makes for a great layout!
My giant ears made me really happy that entire day! I wore them on the train and love the selfie that we took together. This train was fascinating, as you board and sit facing outward so you can see the sights. I love a fun train ride! On the way back we saw Kevin from UP! standing at one of the intersections, and they waved excitedly to us! That was probably the best part of this little jaunt!
This card was the most fun to pull together! I used one of the patterned papers from Project Mouse Animal as the base and layered the wood piece over top. That piece is from Studio Calico and gives some fun opportunities to add fun things inside the circles. I added more of those leaves and some word strips from Ali Edwards Cheer kit.
One last photo of the sign as you arrive from the train. I also had another journal card here, where I wrote about seeing Kevin. This is a fun neutral card, because every layout needs a bit of black and white!
Thank you so much for joining me today! We are rolling right along in this project and I’m so happy to share it all with you. See you again soon!
