December Daily 2022 Days 11 Thru 15 | Scrappy Christmas In July Wrap Up!

Theresa Moxley December Daily 2022 Days 11 Thru 15 | Scrappy Christmas In July Wrap Up!

Hi friends and welcome back to my blog! It has been a few months and I am so happy to be back and sharing with you all! Today I wanted to share a wrap up post for the layouts I’ve completed in July for my December Daily 2022 Album. I always set this album aside after the New Year and then by the time July comes around, it makes me excited to get back in to it again. Of course I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped but every page is another page and my plan is to definitely complete it in November. That’s a reasonable goal and I hope it inspired you as well! If you’d like to see my previous progress on this project, check out this link: December Daily 2022.

Day 11 | Nick Returns Home From College

One of the best parts of having kids who have left the house, is the wonderful day they return for holidays! I am embracing this and documenting the excitement – and of course taking the opportunity to grab some photos. My idea for this page began with the die cut oval on the right hand side, which is taken from a journal card in the Traci Reed The Naughty List collection. I turned that in to a Silhouette cut file and layered it on top of an oval of vellum trees, and then backing it with a patterned paper scattered with digital stars.

Day 12 | Visiting The Lights At Tanglewood

For Day 12 I am documenting our annual visit to Tanglewood to see the lights. We go every year, and this year I decided to make the page elements themselves the focus of the page. Since we go here every year I probably have a million photos of the same displays! So this is a fun challenge to myself to see how I can document this in a new fun way every year. Earlier last year I had created this foundation page with the Traci Reed Candy Coated Christmas collection. It features gifts that open out to reveal the photos and journaling behind them.

I was so excited to finish this page with the stories, but I also discovered the page design needed a bit of updating to accommodate the actual photos. I kept all of the working files in Photoshop and Silhouette and discovered it was best to print the gifts onto the background paper, have the Silhouette cut the openings, and then print the photos onto the backing page. Stacking the gifts and photos in Silhouette helped make sure the photos fit within the gifts. It also had the benefit of making the pages more streamlined and fit smoother into the album. Day 13 | My First Coffee That I Loved!

My story for Day 13 is a totally unexpected and random one: I have never been a fan of coffee in my whole life. But Alan and I had some Godiva chocolate liquer and decided to make some spiked coffee. I loved it! I was super inspired by this beautiful gold pattered paper from the Paislee Press Mini Kit this year and decided to pair it with these fabulous numbers from Colorcast Designs. Don’t they look stunning together?! I also opted for a pocket page (haven’t done one of those in a while!) for journaling and a cure second photos with the cream on my tongue. What is it about red and white super simple pages that is so gorgeous for these albums?!!

Day 14 | Zoe The Cat

No album would be complete without a page about our favorite feline Zoe. She is our resident mouser and meower and I decided to make this page a playful mirror image of Day 13. I had the back of the pocket page to work with, so that was fun! And then I borrowed the green watercolor swatch and the grid from Ali Edwards’ Digital Kit for 2021 December Daily to create a grid. I went through my die cuts and vellum pieces to add fun little details and a second photo of Zoe, settled into one of the shipping boxes. I also borrowed the title, Karma Is A Cat, from Taylor Swift. Isn’t that cute?!

Day 15 | Favorite Pusheen The Cat Holiday Memes

This page began with just one single fun element from the Traci Reed Candy Coated Christmas collection: the ornaments! These were lifted from one of the travelers notebook signatures and I just had the Silhouette cut a bunch of them to layer so they would have enough depth for sequins. I adore how this page turned out! I clipped the memes into the ornaments in Photoshop and just popped those up on foam tape. I added an extra ornament for the day number (Vicki Boutin). This goes down as a favorite of all time!
