December Daily 2022 | Days 06 And 07
Hi friends and welcome back to December Daily 2022! Today I am sharing Days 06 and 07 with you, as we keep rolling through the month. I am pleased with how this album project is coming together! At this stage I am loving the pages and loving how they are coming to life, especially in the hybrid format, and I feel good about the pace I am working at. Today I will be working with products from Ali Edwards and Felicity Jane. If you’d like to see all the previous posts for this project, check out this link: December Daily 2022. Follow along with my process below.
One of the things I’ve been embracing lately is the fun and simplicity of creating one page spreads for a particular day, and that is what I’ve done for Days 06 and 07. You can see below how the two different days with two very different stories tie together beautifully, and still keep the main focus on photo + story. I am happy to remove any pressure or obligation to do two-page spreads, sure it’s fun and sometimes it necessary (!) but the job still gets done on one page too. And looks lovely to boot.
Day 06 is a hybrid page that I started in Photoshop by simply dividing my page down the center, photo on the left and patterned paper on the right. I wrote my journaling in Photoshop directly over top of the patterned paper and then printed that out onto vellum, which allows that pattern to still show but the main focus is on the words. My story is about how and why I decorate so much for the holidays, why I love it so much, and how much it reminds me of the Christmases past when Mom would bring out our decorations from Germany. That meant so much to me, and I hope the decor will mean as much to our children too! I hope it will remind them of our fun memories together too.
Dividing the page like this, and using the vellum, made it fairly easy to embellish, once everything was printed out. I’ve selected die cuts from the Ali Edwards December Daily products and chipboard and puffy stickers from Paislee Press. The number is from Ali Edwards or Studio Calico, I’m not sure which, and the joy stamp is also Paislee Press. I could make pages like this over and over again!
For Day 07 I’ve used one of my foundation pages I created with the Felicity Jane Ivy kit. I loved these chipboard circles and created a very simple cascade of them going down the page. I printed and punched my photos to fit inside the circles, leaving one for the day number and another for my journaling. I wrote my journaling directly onto the background patterned paper with pencil lines, can you believe that?! Then I added enamel dots, chipboard stars, stamping, and snowflakes around the circles just to add some fun details. I simply adore this page!
That is all I have for today, thank you so much for following along with me! See you again soon!
