Hi everyone and welcome back to my December Daily 2019 series! Some of the members of the Ali Edwards design team created the #donebydecember in an effort to finish up unfinished December Dailies, and so well, here I am. Today I have Day 16 to share with you, which is a really cool flip out I made from 3×8 travelers notebook size journal cards. If you’d like to see how I created this as a Foundation Page, check out the process video here: Paislee Press Foundation Pages. You can also see other videos from this series here: Larkindesign December Daily 2019. Let’s check out my process for finishing up the flip out!
My story for this day was all about taking a day trip to Atlanta to visit a pop-up holiday festival put on by Kathe Wohlfahrt. This is a very special Christmas shop based in Germany that I had visited quite a few times when I lived in Germany. It was so incredible to experience the festival and enjoy the food and do a bit of shopping. The festival was held at Atlanta Olympic Park which was cool to see as well.
I had already designed a flip-out when I created my foundation pages back in November of last year. This was the perfect opportunity to use that flip-out because I had quite a few photos I wanted to use. I printed four photos at 3×8 and adhered two photos to each side. I included journaling cards as part of the flip-out construction, so I had room for my story on the back side as well. For the cover, this December card was perfect. I had room for the 16, which I stamped using tiny stars and hearts from the Paislee Press stamp set. The velvet bow is from my stash.
I alternated photo with journal card, which left a filler card in between my two photos on the front side. This had the loveliest gold foiled leaf, and then I added two puffy stars for a little pop of color. I only used puffy stickers for this flip-out, as it kept bulk to a minimum. A flip-out like this will add a tiny bit of bulk to your album, but the benefit is having this fun interactive element!
Most of my journaling is housed on the back side. In hindsight I would have liked to have one of the journal cards on the front side, but that is ok!
This was so much fun and I know I will do this again in my album this year. Thanks so much for joining me today! See you again soon!
