Traci Reed Creative Team | December Daily 2021 Days 13 and 14
Hi friends and welcome back to my 2021 December Daily series! Each July I try to accomplish a bit more in this 25-day album project, and after these pages I am about half way done. For the Traci Reed Designs CT, she invited us to create some Christmas In July pages for her blog, so naturally I jumped at that chance! I love the Candy Coated Christmas collection in her shop, and it happens to have the most fantastic set of number stamps! It was a match made in heaven. If you’d like to see more from this album project so far, check out this link: 2021 December Daily. Follow along with my process below!
Day 13 Hot Chocolate Bar
My inspiration for Day 13 came from this mug of hot chocolate in the Candy Coated Christmas kit. This was the perfect icon to help me tell the story of our hot chocolate bar this year. I knew I wanted to turn the page and just be able to see this cute mug floating in the album, so to speak! I had the back of a pocket page to work with from the day before, so that is where my story + photos went. The pockets were 4×4, so I down-sized two of the patterned papers from the kit to make my own cards. This layout just has all the best of Christmas, doesn’t it? Laughter, candy, warm mugs and hugs and candy gum drops and marshmallows! Yes!
The giant mug was printed at a larger size and then adhered onto a transparency so it would float inside the album. I also printed and cut a second mug, and used the candy canes, marshmallows, and the green stripes to add a bit of dimension by popping them up with pop dots. Since they are on a transparency, that meant adding something to the back of the mug. I chose the candy cane patterned paper along with a little banner. Very simple and cute!
Day 14 Holiday Decor Plate Rack
Every year I document my Mom’s plate rack. This piece is a true vintage piece from before vintage was even so popular, and when she owned it, it was always filled with her extensive collection of dinnerware! I keep up the tradition and love decking it out for Christmas. This plaid vellum patterned paper goes beautifully with the colors in my photo, so I decided to create a star cut out insert with the vellum popping through. In order to have enough room for my journaling + my photo, I decided to also make it a flip-out page. All of the elements of the flip-out are behind the star cut-out, so you can almost kind of make out the plate rack behind the vellum. This page started with the star cutout insert (Felicity Jane) and I’ve turned it into a flip out by adding the other pages using washi tape as a hinge. My journaling is a digital page that I created in Photoshop, adding all the elements and journaling onto the page before printing. I loved using this little notebook sticker and adding the little florals with my words!
When you turn the page over, you find the photo for the day and the back of the star vellum. I kept this side very simple, since it’s folded inside the flip-out and I wanted to keep the bulk to a minimum. The stamped sentiments are from Citrus Twist.
I also created a very short and quick tutorial to show you how I recolored the digital number stamp for Day 13. You can see that here:
With that, I am about half way done with this album project! I plan to work on it off and on between now and October, and then I will begin sharing my process with you in anticipation of this year’s project! Thanks so much for joining me!
