Hi friends! Maribeth here. September has always been my favorite month. Where I grew up, it meant the start of school. New sweaters, freshly sharpened pencils, the promise of cool weather and Halloween candy. It’s always meant new beginnings for me, a different kind of fresh start than January. I find myself eager for possibilities, opening to following my curiosity in a way that I’m not at other times of the year. So for me, the prompt this month was perfect, because it got me thinking about what brings me joy. Places, people, the things I do, what is it that lights me up?
I started creating my list and then dove deeper in why those specific things are the cat’s pajamas to me. Next I picked a few I wanted to highlight on my layout. Then I scrolled back through my camera roll and found a couple of photos my husband had taken of me over the last several months where I saw joy in my expression (typically it’s because he’s making me laugh).
I selected some of my favorite cards from this adorable Allison Pennington set that we received this month in the digital kit. It’s the perfect mix of colors as we transition into fall. I’m crushing hard on that shade of warm caramel. My favorite card this month is the “Intent on Loving Myself” card. I used that as my jumping off point. Once I had a few things I knew I wanted to work with, I searched my digital supplies for a digital template to use. I’m a hybrid scrapper, so I work with templates quite a bit. This template is from Cathy Zielske.
Once I had all the digital pieces assembled on my template, I printed it out on Cannon photo paper. This year, I’m working in a 9×12 album and still finding my footing with full page layouts. I backed the print with a buffalo check paper from Webster’s Pages I had in my stash. I only cringed a little when I cut into it. Next I added bits and bobs from my ever growing fall ephemera collection. Fall is my favorite as my stash reflects.
I hope you’ll join us for Light The Path.
Wishing you lots of joy this month!
