Light The Path Design Team Meg Gundlach | December Prompt Greatest Gift
Happy New Year scrappy friends! I cannot believe I am sharing the last page of my 2021 Light The Path album, but here we are at the start of a fresh year. I’m wrapping up with a three-page spread that combines the Photo and Scrap Prompts for December.
Because I formatted my Photo Prompt pictures to be the front and back of a square pocket page (see below), I still had the whole reverse of this page from November to work with. This was the perfect place to include some of the gorgeous coordinating digitals provided in the workshop this month—the color scheme, winter vibes, and messaging were all just what this spread required. I also embraced a side challenge of making this spread while travelling, using only whatever random supplies I had delivered to my mom’s house over the last couple years. That is definitely one way to reduce your chances of option fatigue!
I really loved the snowflake card so I used that to mark the month and a coordinating 4×6 card holds my journaling. Because the other half of the spread is a fairly busy photo grid, I tried to keep this side simple with lots of white space and bright colors. When I thought the title card was maybe too simple I just messy stitched around it a couple times with white thread to add some monochromatic texture.
For December, Theresa invited us to look over the entirety of our year and pull a selfie from each month. I attempted to (1) Not pull pictures I had already included in this album and (2) Choose a range that accurately represented life this year: Outdoor/Indoor, Filters, Masks, and randomly texted images. I cropped them all to 3×3 before I printed and added six to each side, leaving room to print 4 more pieces from the digital kit.
One of the supplies I actually had available was these sheets of Studio Calico month tabs in a few different colors, which was exactly what I needed! Though I’m normally a tiny attacher addict, I took full advantage of mom’s sewing machine this month. There’s a lot going on in the pictures themselves but the tabs add a nice layer of constancy to tie it all together.
The digital kit included pieces to assemble your own clocks, so I set mine to just before midnight to bid farewell to 2021. End of the year, end of this album, but still continuing on my journey. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has been following along and supporting this project/workshop. Please know that the LTP workshop may be winding down, but the community will always be here if you need us!
But wait, there’s more! This may be the last post for the Light The Path but you will still find me at TheresaMoxley.com all year long. We have a super exciting line up of In My Pocket collaborations, shop releases, and a new blog team just bursting with inspiration! Things are about to get AWESOME.
