Hey friends! It is Ashley and today I am sharing my art journal-esque page from the July prompts in the Light The Path workshop. This month is all about honoring and healing our Inner Child. If you’d like to see more from this dynamic workshop, check out more of the Design Team pages here: 2021 Light The Path Design Team.
The base of this page is a 6×8 cardstock page that came with my Simple Stories SNAP binder. Using a little bit of washi tape to mask off white space, I painted three bands for a rainbow. In the white space, I wrote in some affirmations that are specific to the parts of my Inner Child that I am working on healing. On the inside of the rainbow, I added a little bit of plain white paint as a spot for my journaling.
Once everything was dry, I added my photo and embellishments. The photo used was from grade school. That specific year was when I started to learn that if I did not look, act, or dress a certain way people treated you differently and less than. It was a time that, instead of being proud of my uniqueness, I started to feel ashamed by it. In turn, I started diminishing myself and my individual needs. This is something I am working on healing.
For the layers under the photo, I used one of the journaling cards, digital washi, and two of the stickers from Traci Reed’s beautiful kit. On top of the photo, I added that affirmation flag. I finished the page with my journaling and a little cluster underneath. Both the sticker and label are from the digital kit as well.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my project this month!! This was a little bit of a harder month for me to document. My Inner Child wounds are still tender and an area I am actively working on, especially as they correlate with the work I am doing with my PTSD. The prompts and workbook in the workshop have been amazing tools as I explore these concepts and document them.
