Hey! It is Ashley here to share my art journal page for the Light the Path Workshop’s August prompts. This month my project was inspired by going through the monthly workbook provided each month. For August, one of the practices was to create a descriptive work cloud.
One word that stood out to me was “Okay”. I was drawn to this word because it is something I am focusing on for my future self. The idea of striving for great all the time seemed a little overwhelming so, with the help of my therapist, we landed on Okay.
This art journal page together fairly quickly once I new I wanted to highlight that quality. I selected a few different watercolors that I felt coordinated with this month’s kit. Then I used the packaging technique to create layers of color onto my page.
Once I was happy with the background colors, I added the leaf sticker from my stash. I chose black and white so it wouldn’t compete with the background. Then I used labels from the kit for a journaling spot and the date. Again, I chose the more muted gray and light blue to be more neutral compared to the brighter background.
Just above the journaling block, I stamped out OKAY in a coordinating blue ink. Then I added the rest of the title a bit offset to mirror the offset of the date label. To finish off the page, I added a bit of outline to the journaling with a black Stabilo pencil.
This art journal page is the first page in my August project. It set the tone for the rest of my pages. I encourage to take full advantage of the workbook each month. There are such a valuable resource in my journey.
