I am Akansha Sahgal and I am back with another layout as my March inspiration project for Light The Path. The prompt for this month was people, places and things and I really loved this one. While I was working on this prompt, I was continuously getting that happy feeling as I was thinking about all the people, places and things that bring me joy. The kit provided by Megan added to my happiness as it had such unique and vibrant elements to it.
For this particular layout, I printed out this journal card on a full letter size paper and used it as my base sheet. I traced out a rough heart image in the blank part for my reference. And since we were to reflect on our favorite things in this month’s prompt, I grabbed one of my favorite supplies, i.e., watercolors. Watercolors always bring immense joy to me so I decided to use them in this particular layout as my main element. I used various colors to give a rainbow effect and used them to make the heart shape. I let them blend and flow randomly but made sure that white space is left in the center so that my heart shape pops out.
I also cut out my photo in the heart shape so that the theme stays intact. The photo that I chose was from one of my favorite places and that was how my favorite place also got added. Then I cut out the journal cards that had all these three things mentioned on them to journal my thoughts. But definitely they were too big for this particular layout, so I just cut out the headings. I placed them on my photo’s bottom and top sides.
Then I needed something to journal on and my eyes fell on the labels in the element sheet. I saw green, yellow and pink colors labels and immediately knew that they will fit in perfectly with my rainbow colors. I placed them near my people, places and things tags respectively and wrote down my lists in them. To make the heart shape stand out more I grabbed a silver gel pen to doodle a random design and outline the heart shape. I messed up the doodling a bit in the top center part, so decided to cut out that circle and place the sentiment “love” there (the beauty of covering up craft errors :P). And I really didn’t mind how it turned out in the end as it didn’t look out of place at all.
I really loved working with this prompt as it brings back all the happy memories and gives you a reminder about what you need to focus on, what is important for you. I hope you will get the same feeling while working on this prompt. Will see you all soon with some more inspiration.
