Light the Path 2021 Design Team Zakirah Zakaria | Timeline
Hi friends! It’s Zakirah here, sharing my project inspired by this month’s (September) prompt at Light the Path. Looking back to our previous prompts made me think about the album that we’re creating, which, in an essence, is a timeline of our healing journey. And this month, we’re dedicating our pages to document exactly that – our timeline.
As usual, each month I’d create an opening page to my spread which acts as an introduction to the prompt. We have Allison Pennington designing the kit for us to use this month, and it’s perfect for the prompt. In the Photography Prompt module, we are encouraged to look for photos of our favorite things or places from our childhood. To me, my favorite place back then was school. It was the place where I felt happy, safe, and free to explore the endless possibilities and potentials inside of me. So on this page, I placed a photo of the flight of stairs leading to my classroom in Standard Six.
I decided to keep the journaling simple this month because I want to incorporate as much photos as possible. I might add more pages after this to document the journaling from this month’s workbook exercise, but for now, this would be enough. For the first page of my September spread, I added another photo of the stairs taken from a different angle. These stairs held so much good memories. I could see myself as a child sweeping the stairs attentively, almost everyday. Sweeping the dusts and dirt from the stairs was one of my favorite activities.
The second page of the spread is where I placed the photo of my school compound. Looking at this brings back a lot of good memories. I studied here since I was 7 years old and left after graduating at 12. Those 5 years were so memorable and meaningful to me. The second photo was the open hall where we practiced choral speaking. It was such a proud moment in my life because I served as the conductor, and we got to the national level (yay!). Such good times.
Now here’s how the pages look like as a spread:
Thanks for checking out my pages for this month! I’ve really enjoyed the September prompt as it brought back fond memories from my childhood years, which adds a fresh perspective to my healing process. I hope this sharing has inspired you to reflect on your own timeline and bring positive vibes to you. You can always check out more inspiration from the design team in this month’s album at the Light the Path workshop.
