IMP Design Team Maribeth Lysen | Life In Bloom Hybrid Pocket Pages
I’m desperately wishing for spring to finally come to the Pacific Northwest but there’s been an awful lot of grey and rain around here lately so I was delighted to get to play with “Life in Bloom” from the Practical Scrapper this month and pretend it’s spring. Between the flowers and the fresh color pallet full of greens, pinks, blues, and best of all, some purple, it was so much fun to use this spring collection.
As always, I started by picking out and editing my favorite photos from the week. This week I decided to print all my photos with a white boarder since they felt a little dark and heavy. I knew I had a couple of specific stories to tell and then I knew I was going to need a weekly roundup card so those were the first things I pulled from the collection. I adore the flowers in this collection. The dandelion journaling card is my absolute favorite this month. I also really love the “Five Little Things” card because it gave me a spot to write down things I was grateful for this week.
To create my title card, I used the flower title card #2 from the collection and then used my current favorite stamp font, “KG All of Me”. I choose my font color by using the color picker tool in Photoshop CC and selecting the lighter purple from the collection. Recently, I had picked up bunch of the new Echo Park collection, “A New Day” by the designer Traci Reed, and I was delighted when I realized it coordinated so well with Life in Bloom. As a hybrid scrapper, I’m always on the lookout for physical products that match digital products and vise versa. These two collections go together like peanut butter and jelly! I used a few of the chipboard hearts from New Day to embellish my title card and I was done.
I’m not always the best at working in critters from collections but these bees were the perfect addition to my journaling cards. They are adorable and add just the right touch of whimsy spring to my layout. For the quote card, I added a cute floral camera sticker from the sticker pack. I had room this week for a couple of filler spots, so I used the gorgeous butterfly card and added a word sticker. Lastly, I printed my favorite paper from the collection, 12×12 #3, and then added a rainbow chipboard and another word sticker from the “A New Day” sticker sheet.
This layout came together with lightening speed because my physical products matched my digital products so well. I love that so much when it happens. It feels like magic.
