IMP Blog Team Jill Kane | Go with the Grid
Hello! I’m really into grids right now. I knew right when I saw The Practical Scrapper’s Discover Life digital kit that I wanted to trim many of the cards down into 2×2 squares.
This said, I wasn’t sure where their “home” would be. Then I remembered my semi-neglected OLW Journal and got excited because sticking them down felt like collage making, which is also something that’s really exciting to me right now.
I decided to pull out some stamps that illustrate the story of my photos. Sometimes it’s fun to look at the “left overs” from trimming out a certain area and making something from those scraps, too. Turning it into something useable.
Meagan’s “closed eyes” card really spoke to me, too. Lately, I’ve been feeling a lot of what I stamped on Ali Edwards’ next chapter card – less of this, more of that. I don’t need to write more words about what’s behind this, because I expect I’ll remember well enough what I meant when (if) I look at this journal in years to come. The closed eyes image feels like taking a pause and making a reset. And that’s the visual I needed to craft for myself this month.
I encourage you to take out a punch or put your trimmer to work and make some paper smaller and piece it together in a different way. It’s fairly quick and the results are surprising. That’s also the beauty of using digitals – you still have the original size to use in another way. Have a great month! – Jill
