December Daily 2020 | Finishing The Album Days 21 Thru 25
Hi everyone and welcome back to my December Daily 2020 project! Just like many of you, I am trying to get this older album finished up before December begins, and today is the day. In this post you will find all the details for my Days 21 thru 25! It’s so exciting, and a little bit of a relief, but also bittersweet to finish each album. I’m so happy to have it completed, but also I had so much fun working on it. Of course, knowing that a brand new December is literally just days away helps to move forward! There will always be another wonderful year! You can see the entire process for this album, start to finish, at this link: December Daily 2020.
Day 21 | The Great Conjunction
At this time, our galaxy was experiencing a super fun event: the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn, both visible from Earth. We took a little time along with our star-struck child Natalie, to view the planets, and I was able to get a cool photo of the skyline and the app they were using to track. I opted to use the half-circle page from Ali Edwards with the constellations, which was the perfect starting point for this page. I also used the Crate Paper Snowflake cut-apart sheet as a collage. For the photo itself, I printed it in horizontal orientation and cut it out to fit the half circle. I added a few Elle’s Studio die cuts for embellishment + journaling.
Day 22 | The Making of the Chocolate Covered Strawberries
I believe this was the first time I had ever made chocolate covered strawberries, and I just want to tell you how much fun that was! They turned out delicious, and so pretty, and we had the best time. So that is my story for Day 22. I’ve used a 6×8 page protector for this, which created great pockets for the 2’s. These were from Colorcast Designs 2020 product release. They fit perfectly in the 3×4 pockets and of course, I added just a bit of star sprinkles to the pockets before sewing them shut. I’ve used the Studio Calico Documenter Northern Lights kit to create the journaling card.
Day 23 | Cookies
If you’re noticing a trend, yes indeed, cookies and treats are a big part of our celebration here. For Day 23 I told the story of Emberlynn and Natalie decorating our sugar cookies, which is always a fan favorite activity! I’ve used one of the patterned papers from Ali Edwards plus the star labels and placed them on the diagonal in the style of Krystal Idunate. This gave me three spaces for photos, and three for journaling. I added a few puffy stickers in between, and then used the gold Felicity Jane numbers for the date.
Day 24 | Christmas Eve
I kept Day 24 very simple for Christmas Eve. I took the kids’ annual photo by the tree and printed it 6×8. I also added an Ali Edwards photo overlay as a digital embellishment. When I created my Foundation Pages, I had made this star divided page protector so I kept it just as it is for this day. I love how it allows a peek right into the 25th!
Day 25 | Christmas Day
Christmas Day is of course all about spending our time together opening gifts and have wonderful food. I created this 4×6 traveler’s notebook for the Sahlin Studio Creative Team last year, and I added tabs so that I could put the star pouch into my album as the notebook holder.
The base of the notebook is the journal cards and patterned paper from the Sahlin Studio Favorite Things collection. I was inspired by the calendar journal card, on the cover below. I printed the journal cards back to back and then sewed them together using the twine. To document the day, I simply added photos and words and kept the embellishments to a bare minimum. This is the perfect way to include more photos from the 25th into your album and I love it so much, this is how I want to do it in the future.
And just like that, the album is completed! I will be sharing the full album walk through tomorrow, so I hope you will return for that, and also stay tuned for December Daily 2021! Thank you so much for following along with us!
