Art Journal With Me | Good Things Take Time

Hey everyone and welcome back to Art Journal With Me, a Wednesday series we do around here each week! A few weeks ago I created a very simple journal using patterned papers from AB Studio, which you can see here: Art Journal With Me. Today I am creating my first page in this journal, so check it out below. If you’d like to see other art journal pages I have created in the past, click this link: Art Journals.

Selecting product:

Opening this journal reveals the first layout, which is an orange and yellow striped page on the left, and pink/dark pink on the right. These papers already have a mixed media feel, so for this layout I decided to just add elements right on top. I had printed this photo of myself from last year around the same time or right before we went into lockdown for the pandemic. That photo becomes the focal point for the page.

Creating the left side:

Many of the elements I used are from the Maggie Holmes Fresh Bouquet collection, including the transparent butterflies, the lined journal card, and the puffy stickers. The enamel hearts are from Illustrated Faith. The layout on the left hand side is stacked, really, with the two butterflies on the top, and the journal card at the bottom. I journaled a bit about what I saw in the photo of myself, especially a year later. I feel like we learned so much and it is sort of difficult to try to put it into words. I look at that photo and felt like we were quite a bit naive back then. I’m glad we know now.

Creating the right side:

The photo side came together so easily. I cut the transparent floral in two and tucked it underneath the photo, then added puffy stickers on top. I stamped my date at the bottom, using the date of the photo. I also stamped a few sentiments around the page, using a stamp set from Studio Calico. The word strip above the photo serves as the title: Good Things Take Time.

I hope this was an inspiring page and that you will take time to create something today! See you again soon!
