Art Journal With Me | Create Your Own Rainbow

Hi everyone, Theresa here with an art journal page for you! It’s Art Journal With Me day, every Wednesday I share an affirmation page with you from my notebook. I use these pages to help remind me of good things in my life, and I hope you will be inspired to create art that supports your healing with me. If you’d like to see more layouts like this, check out this link: Art Journal With Me.

A few weeks ago I created this very simple notebook using the AB Studio Somewhere Over the Rainbow collection. These papers feature a mixed media feel using all the colors of the rainbow, and they make a fun base for layouts just like this. Today I have layered a stencil and paint over top of the base pages, and just look at how rich and textured the page is!

My first step was simply to paint using this stencil from Jerry’s Art store that is close by me. I focused on the mandala portion of the stencil, filling it in with Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn. Those dauber tops make it so easy to apply the paint. I also added paint around the stencil a bit, which provided the perfect space for my title.

I had a bit of Freckled Fawn on my desk, these were products from the February 2021 kit. First I added my title using the pink alphabet stickers, following the circle from the outside of the stencil. This leads your eye directly around all of the luscious details of the page! I absolutely had to have these rainbow puffy stickers, aren’t they awesome for an affirmation page? I placed some of those rainbows on the left side of the layout, just for fun and visual interest. I added a few strips of the washi tape at the top and bottom of my page, just for a place for additional embellishments.

I added a few stamps to my page, using a stamp set from Studio Calico, plus a few enamel dots for little pops of color. The chipboard pieces also incorporate color to the page, along with word sentiments that carry in more reminders for myself. I hope you will make time to create some art today! See you again soon!
