This little notebook size is bringing me so much joy lately! I am loving the small canvas size, at just 5×8 or so, and love watching the pages fill up. My goal with these pages is to simplify the art process to just a few steps that are easy to create in an hour or less. This certainly rises to the task today! I was inspired by the layered florals on the stamp set from Felicity Jane Henley, a kit from several years ago. I was feeling in a purple mood, so I grabbed some purple ink cubes and got started.
I always begin with prepped pages, by adhering several layers of pages together with matte medium, and then today I added purple washi tape to the edges and center (the gutter). Then I added a thick layer of gesso over the whole thing. I like using a really inexpensive, textured brush so that the gesso holds that brush stroke onto the page. Such a lovely beginning!
I did two different versions of the floral stamp, one with the more filled top layer and the other with the less filled top layer. This gave two different kinds of flowers. I also stamped the leaves with two different shades of green. My design concept is similar to the way I have done the others in this journal – leaving a bit down the middle for the title I want to add.
I had this beautiful gold foil sticker from the Maggie Holmes Sunny Days sticker book, so I cut it in half, and half again and stuck it down. It might also be pretty to cut out the elements of that sticker, in hindsight! But this is pretty as well, and it becomes the home for my title.
I added the title using several of the puffy sticker alphabets from Pinkfresh Studio. I had to use two different sets in order to have enough, so I highlighted the center of my title and in the end I absolutely love how the two colors work so beautifully together. This was so much fun to bring to life and serves as a reminder to all of us that we are, indeed, the Light, and the Light shines within us. Shine brightly my friends! See you again soo!
