Traditional Mixed Media Layout | Hello Gorgeous

Hi guys, today I am sharing another layout in my Things I need to Hear series. Today is a reminder that it is ok to feel beautiful and it is ok to embrace ourselves especially in ways that help us feel good about ourselves. I am using Heidi Swapp Magnolia Jane collection, which is just amazing to work with!

Oh you guys, I had to order a little of the Magnolia Jane collection from Heidi Swapp and when it arrived, I just had to use it right away! I had this quick snap of myself that felt pretty neutral and would be perfect for a layout with Magnolia Jane.

My starting point for this layout was this beautiful pink patterned paper and I knew I wanted to layer my gesso on top for white space. The white space then became the home base for stencils, watercolors, and embellishments.

I used the stencil from Prima to add floral embellishments and then I allowed the watercolors to flow over those shapes. I also added some lovely black splatters, because no layout is complete without a little black!

A second embellishment cluster is at the bottom of my layout. I used some of the embellishments from the Magnolia Jane ephemera and also a folded flower from Recollections (Michael’s brand).

I wrote my journaling on the left hand side in space that was provided by the gesso. One of the very clear casualties in surviving trauma was my self-esteem, and my journaling addresses that challenge. I hope that we all feel self worth today, I hope we all feel as beautiful as we truly are, both inside and out.
