Traci Reed Creative Team | My Oasis Art Journal Layout and YouTube Hop
Hi friends and welcome to the Traci Reed CT My Oasis YouTube Hop! I love hopping along with other creatives on our team to share some fun and inspiring layouts, and today we are working with the My Oasis digital kit! This kit is filled with beautiful home-themed art, uses a gorgeous palette of pinks, greys, and yellows, and I know you’re going to love this kit. I decided to create an art journal page about our flowers and take a few moments to reflect on how thankful I am for our beautiful home. If you’d like to see similar layouts I’ve done in the past, check out this link: Art Journal/Mixed Media Layouts. Follow along with my process below!
My inspiration for this page was a photo of our recent explosion of blooms from these lilies in our yard! They are so bold and colorful! I also noticed that there was a cute notepad paper in the digital stamps in the collection, so I wanted to create a background for these two elements.
For the digital parts of the page, I created a blank canvas in Photoshop and then brought in four or five of the travelers’ notebook papers. They are slightly overlapped which meant some harsh edges, so I also brought in some of the mixed media Ellies, which are paint/mixed media elements on this page. You can see the handwriting, the white brush strokes, and the black splatters. I’ve used those to soften and blend the edges of the patterned papers. The background is then adhered into my notebook, and I added the washi strips onto the center and the edges, so those edges would be sealed in. If you wanted an even more muted background, you could at that point paint some gesso and that would give you a bit of white space on your page. But I’ve left it as is, and then built the layout directly on top.
I’ve added embellishment clusters around the page, using the florals, word strips, rainbows, and the starburst to fill out those clusters. I also of course used one of the houses as a focal point, which serves as the tie-in for my journaling. Speaking of journaling, that is housed on the notepad. The title was created using word art from the kit. I also added some stamping around my page, using a Cocoa Daisy stamp set from the Spice Market Modern Memory Keeping Kit. I’ve used three different ink cubes: Hampton Art grey, Tsukineko Brilliance pigment ink in Pearlescent Purple, and Hero Arts Forever Green. These are a bit more intense than the colors in the kit, and I chose those on purpose to add a bit of contrast to my page.
Thank you so much for hopping along with us today! Be sure to check out the other creatives who are participating in the hop, you can find the links on my YouTube video. See you back here again soon!
