TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25 | Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss

Hi guys, it’s another TBT layout and I am working with a layout from my Project Life 2015 album, Week 25, using Pink Paislee’s Citrus Bliss collection. I am also still using Gossamer Blue’s June 2015 kit. Here is a look at the process:

I decided since this was about the last day of school, to include an insert. The layout itself shows our elementary school children with their respective teachers, and the insert shows the one who graduated from elementary.

Here is Side B of the insert, and the layout that will be part of next week’s process:

If you are wondering why only three children are shown here, keep in mind that middle school children no longer invite parents for the last day of school! So last days become extra important in elementary school, because they are truly numbered. I think it is important, when possible, to capture our children with their teachers. I haven’t been able to do that every year, but this year I was able to and the children were each excited to have their photo taken with their teachers.

I included a tiny bit of journaling about who each teacher was and how the school year had been for each child. For me, it is important to document these small details because these actually become the spark for our children’s memories themselves. In future years, I hope that our children will be able to reference these photos and be able to actually remember for themselves what it was like being in Mrs. Flynt’s classroom. That is hard to do if we can’t even remember her name, or what year it was. The information gathered on these cards becomes more than just a hobby, it becomes an active portion of memory recall.

I am so thankful that Project Life provides space to tell these smaller details that might get lost on a traditional layout.

And even as I do Project Life more and more, for longer periods of time and over several years, the telling of these stories gets easier and more obvious. And even though this story is filled with smaller stories, it is also an overall telling of the story of the last day of school. But notice I didn’t even have to spell out in big title letters, “Hey ya’ll, this is the last day of school!”

It is actually the journaling that tells us this is the last day of school, and it tells us a bit more than that. For Nick, this was the end of something he had been doing for six years – getting on the same bus, walking the same halls, eating at the same lunch tables……and again, this becomes part of his memory bank.

So that is all for today and all for this week. I have a wedding show coming up on Saturday that I cannot wait to tell you all about on Monday!!! So I will be preparing for that and then on Monday I hope to share some photos of how that went and how I set up my booth! I’ll see you then!
