Sahlin Studio Creative Team | Happy Memories Scrapbook Layout With August Template and Simplify

Hi friends and welcome back! I have a hybrid scrapbook layout to share with you today that I’ve created for the Sahlin Studio Creative Team. Each month on the Sahlin Studio blog you will find a free digital template and I love using these to create hybrid layouts too! To help create this fun page documenting my son’s 18th birthday, I also am using this month’s Featured Kit called Simplify. This layout tells the story of how my son Nick turned 18 and graduated from high school all in the same month. This was such a fun time to celebrate with him, cry a little, and simply enjoy his growth and accomplishments! I loved how this template provided ample space for journaling, a larger photo, and a great title.

The colors in the Simplify Kit are great for a layout like this. Lots of black and white, and a bit of lovely blue, plus you’ll find a pop of red! I’ve used one of the patterned papers as my background, which adds a lovely bit of texture and visual interest to the page without competing with other elements. The other swaths of patterned paper are black and white, but I added that bit of red in the word strip above the photo. This was actually a crucial design choice, because it opened the door to add color with the physical embellishments! So that is exactly what I did, I’ve pulled puffy words and stars from Pinkfresh Studio and they round this layout perfectly. One more tiny detail is the number 18, which I pulled from the Sahlin Studio December Days No. 5 kit.
