Project Life 2019 | Weeks 25 and 26 ft. Studio Calico

Hello Lovelies and welcome back to my 2019 Project Life album! This project has been pushed to the side lately, and it is nice to get back into a regular routine of creating in it. I am sharing my layout from Weeks 25 and 26 today, using the August Studio Calico Documenter Kit called Found And Collected. Follow along with my process video below.
I was immediately drawn to the soft florals in this kit, so that is what I included in my layout. This layout was one side Design A and the other side was a 6×12 insert for this week. Funny story: these pages actually go with another layout I already created for Week 25! So it was originally supposed to be Week 25 on the left, Week 26 on the right, with a 6×12 insert. I am keeping it this way, all in the name of moving forward!

I have learned so much over seven years of doing Project Life, and that is to figure out the changes you need to make along the way, in order to keep going. For me a big change over the years has been to simplify my methods, and one way I stay true to that is with very minimal embellishments. Now, I am by no means a minimalist! I LOVE a good heavy embellished layout! But in the interest of getting these layouts completed, I keep them simple. Just one embellishment per card or photo.

For my date card on this layout, I began with the stripe card from the kit. This card sets the color palette for the layout, and then I have pulled the pinks and peaches from that card as the main color. I added my week numbers with Thickers and the date using a roller stamp from Becky Higgins. This is pretty standard in my layouts these days. I had a selfie that documents a bit of my hair journey, so I turned that into a Polariod-style photo just using Photoshop. Then I added some tiny stamps, and journaled next to it on the floral tag. Underneath is a photo of these children of mine who roast marshmallows in the candle at the table. Ha!

The right side features a home construction project we did, a bit of non-stop rain, and my Natalie coming to help me in the studio. I love taking photos of the miscellaneous projects we have taken up over the years and love that they belong perfectly in this album. I have been wanting to replace that ugly flourescent fixture over the kitchen ever since we moved in, and while we were randomly walking through Hobby Lobby we found some simple pendants that we loved. As a way of bringing all the stories together, I used this 1-2-3 card at the top. I just wrote my journaling by hand in each of the three columns, no embellishments needed.
So simple and done! See you again soon!
