Hello Lovelies and welcome back to my 2019 Project Life album! We are winding down to the end of this album, and this layout is from the second half of October. We did skip the first layout of October, as I had already completed that layout a while back for Sahlin Studio. You can find that layout on the Sahlin Studio blog via this link here: Sahlin Studio Autumn Stories Blog Post. But let’s chat about today’s layout, using the Sahlin Studio Documenter kits. Follow along with my process video below.
It seems I have included lots of inserts in this album, as a quick way to include more photos when I feel it is warranted. For this layout I wanted to include an enlarged photo of the Ferris wheel from the Fair, so I crafted an insert from a Simple Stories page protector to accommodate that. We had so many great stories for this layout!
As always, I began with my date card. This green grid card provided a great space for the date, a simple OCT from alphabet stickers, and a bit of space for words. I also added a chipboard piece in the top corner. I mentioned in my process video and wanted to just add here that my journaling typically comes from what I see once the photos are laid out on my desk. I look at all my photos from that week, or from that time period, and journal about what I see overall. How the photos make me feel, what the overall impression is. This is a stress-free way to include words without anxiety of trying to remember every detail.
I was loving this yellow star card, with its happy gold foil and cheerful yellow. I added a simple word stamp to that. Then I also had a selfie from Halloween – for Halloween I dressed up for the first time ever as a wizard! I used a fun filter and threw that photo onto my Instagram. I layered the printed square photo onto a 4×6 journal card, which gave a little space for words and a chipboard bubble.
Alan and I took up a rather large and exciting project – updating our closet! We pulled out all the old metal racks and put in wooden towers and rods over a whole weekend and it turned out so incredible. I printed a photo of the closet before we added all our clothes, just to be able to remember how that felt to finish it! It was so fresh and brand new and beautiful, and we were so proud.
At the top of the layout I had a photo from our date night. I added this photo because I love how I am looking up at him, like we are ready for such a great time together. I am so eternally thankful we had these wonderful moments together, it has been a few weeks since we had a date night so it is great to remember and to look forward to being able to go out again!
You can see how I cut up the page protector for my insert, and added patterned paper to the back of my photo. The paper is a B-side from Crate Paper All Heart, and I added just a few word strips as well. There was space for a 4×6 photo at the bottom, so I added this photo from our excursion to the Dixie Classic Fair. The right side of my layout is about Halloween as well, which was quite an adventure for us this year. Only the girls went, and it was looking like it would pour down rain. So we drive them around in the mini van with the back up, and they had a blast until the bottom did, indeed, drop out with large thunder and lightning!
Alan dressed up like a King this time, and it was all kinds of awesome! He walked out the front door like he was walking into his kingdom and I snapped that photo so quick! I used another grid card as a journal card, to repeat the grid from the left side.
At the bottom I repeated the star on yellow pattern again, this time as a journal card. I wrote a bit about going to the Fair and once again added a chipboard piece just like on the left side of the layout.
This heart card pulls all the colors of the layout together in a fun and simple way! It didn’t need a single embellishment. Notice Zoe the cat being nosy on my work space. Ha! I had a photo of the kiddos at the bottom and added a few turquoise word stickers to that photo as an echo to the word stickers on the insert. I like that pop of turquoise!
And there is the photo of King Alan. What is really awesome is to see us both growing together, becoming a little more open and being to make the most of our one life together.
Thank you so much for joining me today! This has been such a fun layout to create and share with you! See you again soon!
