Project Life 2019 | August Bi Monthly | ft Studio Calico
Hello Lovelies! Welcome back to my 2019 Project Life album. I am plugging along, one layout per week, through this album and today I have a layout from August to share with you! I had enough photos in August to do two layouts, so I am starting with the first half of the month here. If you’d like to see more of this project you can follow this link: Larkindesign Project Life 2019. Follow along with my process video here.
I have been a Studio Calico subscriber for several years now and love their kits because they include so many fun cards. The kits seem to stack up faster than I can use them, so at this point I pull them all together and mix and match different cards from different kits. The cards and embellishments I am using today come from different kits, mostly from 2019. I love doing it this way because then I don’t have to feel guilty about product I didn’t use. I can use it all!
I began my layout, as always, with this lovely date card. The yellow and pink appealed to me as softer colors of summer melding into fall, so it sets the tone for this layout. I added my date, no week number just the dates of August 1-15, using the Scrapbook.com date stamp set. I also added two tiny enamel hearts from Doodlebug Designs.
My favorite story from this month is Natalie’s 12th birthday, and the top photo is from her birthday party at the arcade. I added journaling on the striped card with the 12 stamped at the top. This stripe also helps to bring in other colors for the layout which you will find repeated in different places. This is how I maintain a cohesive look on my layouts – pull two or three colors from one or two cards and stick with those.
I also added another Kallax unit into my studio, this time for albums. I am so happy I did that! I used a simple grey tab at the top of that photo. We also were dropping fun hints about our Disney trip we were planning. We bought Mickey waffles. We never buy Mickey waffles! I journaled about that as well, using the mint card right next to it.
The left side was all about more arcade adventures. August is always the last few weeks and days before school begins, so we took the kids to the arcade many times to let them have a bit of fun. Of course, it’s fun for us too! I just love these lazy summer days that we get to be all together.
I mentioned loving the Studio Calico Documenter Kits because they contain so many journal cards. That makes it easy to punch or cut different fun elements and layer them. These are built in embellishments! For the journal card below, I cut down the ledger card and layered it over a patterned card, and then added a tiny bit of washi from Ban.do to make it look like it is taped there. I also punched a circle from the pink card, layered it over the black and white card, and then cut out the tiny heart for a fun and unique filler card. This is such a fun way to get mileage out of all those cards!
The last journal card is 4×6, and I chose ledger again with those adorable gold foil ctars. I added my words and a chipboard sentiment right across the top, and called this one done.
Thank you so much for joining me today! See you again soon!
