Light The Path Kate McDougall April 2021 Embracing My Emotions

Light The Path Kate McDougall April 2021 Embracing My Emotions

Hi everyone, Kate here. Recently things have been… a lot! Facing a whole range of sometimes overwhelming emotions, this month’s journaling prompts helped me write down the things I couldn’t say out loud. I don’t have a strong journaling habit, despite knowing how much it can help! So the prompts are really helpful for me, as a focus and a guide. This month’s workbook helped me name my feelings and find some calm.

Because of everything going on, I didn’t feel like I had a lot of creative energy. I loved the pinks in the collection and wondered if I could scale up the journaling cards to 6×8 size. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked and they looked great. I printed the ’embrace the change’ card on photo paper for a nice thick feel. Then I used a gold pen made for writing on photos and wrote out the things I’ve been feeling, good and not so good. After making sure it was thoroughly dry I simply cut up the page to fit the 2×2 pockets. The April card was printed on standard white cardstock, and I found a little flower in just the right colours in my stash.

Simple. Low energy required. Documented.

I have felt this winter particularly long. I have faced a lot of insecurity and feeling low, difficulties in my relationship, and challenging behaviour from my son. Now that spring is moving along (although we still have some wintry days) I feel like I’m learning the lessons of this long, cold time. Things become clearer when I name my emotions. It also makes it easier to notice those of others, and support them a little better too. Whatever challenges you’ve been facing, I hope you feel them a bit lighter as the season changes (wherever you are).

Until next time,
