Hello Lovelies and welcome to Art Journal With Me, our Wednesday series where we create affirmations incorporating our creativity with healing! Today I am working in my travelers notebook to remind myself that it is time to rest, so I hope you will also be inspired to create an affirmation today, and also to take time to rest. If you’d like to see more of my art journal layouts, you can follow this link here: Art Journal With Me. Also, if you would like to learn more about using your creativity to amplify your healing, check out our workshop, Light The Path. Let’s get started for our process today!
Gather your supplies first. I try to keep the number of supplies to a minimum for these layouts, so they are easier to complete. I decided to work with the beautiful color palette in the Pinkfresh Studio Noteworthy collection today. I have worked with this collection in my art journals before, and love the softness this collection brings to the page. I also chose a grid stamp, although I changed that up as I got into the process. Gesso also makes an appearance, along with the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Peony Pink. You will also see me use an art screen from Heidi Swapp.
I began with a simple pink background paper, and added gesso just along the top 2/3 of the page. I left the bottom untouched so you could still see the beautiful pink floral pattern. Once the gesso was dry, I stamped simple lines onto the background. I felt this was reminiscent of hanging vines, perhaps? Then over top of the gesso and the lines, I laid down the art screen to create these soft pink flowers. This provided a great place for my affirmation, which I created using these color block alphabets from Pinkfresh. My encouragement to you today is to find time to rest. Some days it all feels so heavy, and it is ok to lay it down. In fact, it is necessary to lay it all down at times so your brain can rest, and so your body can recuperate.
After the words were down, I felt like I had two spaces that wanted a bit of embellishment, so I created two embellishment clusters. The one to the left houses a few word strips with a bird, who points to the affirmation. Then on the bottom right, I added a label for my date, along with the floral bouquet that says You Shine.
I absolutely love creating and sharing these pages with you each Wednesday! Thank you for joining me, I will see you again soon!
