Hi everyone! Zakirah here and today, I am so excited to share with you my project for this month’s theme at Light the Path.
Can you believe that it’s already August? How time flies! These past few months, we have been focusing on past experiences that has shaped us into who we are today. This month, we’re shifting to the future. We are going to re-imagine what our future self would be. We have Allison Pennington designing the kit that we will be using for this prompt. I just love the bright and lively colour palette which gives off a modern, fresh vibe. I think it is perfect for this month’s theme. Check out the preview of my project below:
As usual, each month I would create three pocket pages for my LTP album. Below is the first page which features a 6×8 photo of myself at a local park. It was a beautiful evening and there were not many people jogging there, so my husband and I took the chance to bring our baby girl out for some fresh air. I snapped this selfie as we were walking along the path. Next to the photo, I used the pretty yellow floral card from this month’s kit. I also used a wood-patterned journal card designed by Gina Cabrera of Digital Design Essentials (retired) and cut it into two small squares in Photoshop, and placed them below the floral card. Then, I embellished the squares with bits and pieces from Allison’s kit. To add some sparkle to the page, I incorporated some gold brushed elements by Deena Rutter.
Next is the monthly spread. On the first page, I added a selfie based on this month’s photography prompt. Theresa encouraged us to take a selfie every morning and here’s one of the photos that I took. Then, at the bottom of the page, I included a journaling that I did on August workbook, which is a word cloud of the words that describe who I am right now. I love this practice because it made me reflect about my progress so far on my healing journey. It’s great to have it documented on this page.
On the second page of the spread, I included a short journaling of the things that I’m currently working on with myself, which is another exercise in the workbook. Then, I added a photo of myself and my baby girl by the lakeside. She’s growing up so fast, doesn’t she? For the rest of the page, I kept the theme consistent and repeated the journaling card that I have already used on the intro page. I just love the pink flowers against the mustard background. It makes the page pops up.
Here’s how the spread looks like:
So that’s my project for this month. I love how the theme makes me reflect about my progress in this healing journey and then envision a version of me that I wanted to create for the future. It resonates with my current new role as a mother, and I think it is a good practice to do at whatever phase that we are in life because it gives us a sense of hope for a better future. We can work towards a better self through this healing journey. Thank you so much for reading this far. I hope my project has inspired you to document your own vision for your future self. Do join us in the workshop here at Light the Path. You can join at any time and at your own pace. Let’s light the path together.
