IMP Design Team Maribeth Lysen | Making More Pages
Hi everyone! Maribeth here and I’m continuing with the “Making Pages” theme from the In My Pocket Collab Class. I got to work on week number seven for 2022. I skipped ahead, so I’ll need to go back and finish up the last 2 weeks in January at a later date. I typically skip around in my albums and work with whatever photos or product are inspiring me right now. For me, that was week seven because this week was fun to put together. Jim’s birthday was Monday and we moved out of our hotel suite and into a much larger temporary rental house for the next couple of months. I’m so happy to have space again!
I used the gorgeous digital collection “Loving You” by Paper Hum to put together this spread. I started by opening my favorite papers and journaling cards in Photoshop and dropping them in my 9×12 template I made to match the page protectors I use from scrapbook.com. I had a ton of photos this week, so narrowing down what I wanted to use was a challenge. I picked some of my favorites that helped tell the stories I wanted to focus on. Using Photoshop to lay everything out really helps me narrow down my choices.
Since I had more photos than space this week, and I didn’t want to do an insert, I used an older template from Paisley Press that gives space for journaling and photos. That helped me get enough words on the page but still gave me lots of spots for photos. It’s a strategy I use a lot in my albums. I also like to add journaling directly to my photos if I’m pressed for space.
Monday was the day I had the most to write about so I decided to dedicate a 6×4 journaling card to Monday. I picked my favorite card from the collection, 4×6 #2, and then the “Monday” digital stamp from PaperStudio Days of the Week Vol 1. I used the color picker tool in Photoshop to recolor the stamp with the same shade of pink from the hearts on the journaling card. I stuck with a typewriter font for my journaling to keep things easy. For my title card, I used 4×6 #1 journaling card, centered to make it 3×4, and then added the “Love” digital stamp from The Practical Scrapper’s “I Love My Life” digital collection along with my dates for this week.
Once I had everything laid out digitally it was time to print using my Epson Picturemate. This time I printed everything on matte photo paper and I was pleased with how it turned out. I used my February kits from Cocoa Daisy to add in physical embellishments and help give my pages dimension. I’m so happy to have another week in the books!
