IMP Design Team Ashley Krueger | February Pocket Pages

IMP Design Team Ashley Krueger | February Pocket PagesHappy Friday! It is Ashley back to share some pocket pages from my 2015 Project Life album. This was another one of those spreads that came together so easily with the help of some of the digital products in the Designer Shops.

As I mentioned in my January post, I like to create cohesion throughout my yearlong albums by including repeating elements. Last month, I used the PaperHum Overlays on a photo to make a title card. This month, I used one of the journal cards from the set and then layered washi and a die cut from the I Love My Life Kit from The Practical Scrapper.

This monthly spread was another that I had previously started but not finished. I had only printed the photos without any other design decisions made. I used the I Love My Life Kit to finish it out. One thing I really loved about this kit is how versatile it is. Even though it is love themed and matched the colors of my Valentines card that year, the colors and patterns were still easy to use to tell my everyday stories.

I had a few overlapping stories this month. I used a few repeating elements to help tie those stories together. First, the unofficial theme for February was “pregnancy cravings”. I documented the full story on a journaling card under a flip out photo of myself on the left hand side. Then to tie all the other pieces of the story together, I used the circle labels from the kit and a “cravings” stamp from my stash.

February 2015 was a much slower month and I spent a lot of time taking care of myself so there weren’t many photos. Instead of forcing myself to fill up pockets, I trimmed off the extra pockets and finished the spread with a 6×12 page instead of full 12×12. The right hand side of the spread holds two separate, but related stories.

I wanted to document a big life decision in February that led to us leaving our home of 10 years. I had created that Arizona shape graphic to share on social media back in 2015. The original had a heart and star that didn’t show up very well when I copied it this time, so I used a heart from the digital diecuts. I printed it out and layered it over 3×4 card made from one of the digital papers from the kit and added a piece of star confetti over the original star.

Lastly, added a label cut out from a 3×4 journal card  that had different colored labels to add context. I used the label that matched the same color as the 4×6 journaling card that told the rest of the story. We made this decision with one face to face conversation and a single text over one hour while at work. To the top of the 4×6 journal card, I added a strip of paper and out wrote the contents of the text message on it.

To finish up the rest of the spread, I used the other labels from the 3×4 card to add little details about the photos I had not already embellished. You can see how the whole spread comes together in the process video below.

I hope my Pages today were inspiration to tell your own everyday stories or were an encouragement to go back and document past years. If you are looking for more ways to tell those stories, I invite you to join us in the IMP Life Stories class!
