IMP Design Team Ashley Krueger | April 2015 Project Life
Hey friends! It is Ashley, back to share more from my 2015 Project Life album. This time, I am tackling April and using the Life in Bloom kit designed by The Practical Scrapper.
As I have been doing with the previous months in this album, I started by making the title card using one of the Paper Hum Co monthly overlays. This month I printed one of the cards and fussy cut the month out. Then I created a cluster on the photo using flowers from the Life in Bloom kit.
Then I started building my filler cards. Typically I add a mix of journal cards that come in the kit and cards I make using the digital papers also included in the kit. For this page, I printed out the Five Little Things, for small things that happened that I didn’t have photos for, and the floral card, for trip journaling, directly from the kit. Then I made one using the plaid paper from the kit and I added a label from the kit with a word phrase sticker from my stash. The final card is a screen grab from the Maps app and I stitched out our route for a trip we took. I finished it with a little bit of stamping.
My February and March spreads had a pocket page that I trimmed to 6×12. I used the other half of that page as an insert for April. The front was focused on telling the story of getting ready for our baby. I started by adding one of the larger labels from the Life in Bloom kit on the top photos for a bit of journaling. Then I used one of the patterned filler cards to make a journaling cards. I embellished it with one of the flowers from the kit. On top of the flower I stamped “Things to get Ready”. The second journal card was printed directly from the kit. To it, I added a QR code to a video I had shared on social media and then a little bit of journaling about the video. Lastly, I finished the page with a thinner label from the kit.
The back of the insert holds the story of my spouse getting ready to move for his job. I created a journal card similar to the one on the front of the insert. The edge has a strip from the patterned paper in the kit. Again, I used the thinner labels to add little details to the photos. To add this insert into the album, I sealed the open edge with washi tapes. I left a little bit of an overhang. In between, I added a little bit of cardstock to help reinforce where the holes are punched.
On the last page of this spread, I printed out the flower journaling card directly from the kit and paired it with a blue card. The kit had a card the same pattern with a smaller label on it. I used the digital paper to make the 3×4 card. Then I placed the larger green label on top. Both of these cards will have details and journaling about my spouse moving for work just a few weeks before our baby was born. Lots of emotions are tied with it so I chose to not share the journaling publicly.
For the right hand side, I used photos of life after the move. There weren’t very many but I had a few printed out to include. I printed the journal card directly from the kit. Then to repeat the look of the first card on the spread, I added a label and a black word phrase sticker.
I added a flip for that journal card and underneath is a photo of myself. It had a weird empty space on the edge. I chose to layer some more of the flower embellishments from the kit in that space. Then I finished it with stamped countdown piece. Lastly, in the bottom pocket, I used the green floral 4×6. Before printing it, I added the text “the final countdown” and i felt like it was the perfect ending for the month.
It has been so lovely going back and documenting the missing years. The Life in Bloom kit was the perfect complement to my photos and stories this month. If you would like watch me put these pages together, I do have a process video.
