December Daily 2021 | Days 02 And 03
Hi friends and welcome back again to December Daily 2021! The month has begun and I have been diving right in with these early pages, and I figure I will go, go go until I’m worn out. Today I have Days 02 and 03 to share, they are full page layouts and I hope they will help inspire you with the 10×8 album size. If you’d like to see more about how this album has come together so far, check out the link: December Daily Album 2021.
Day 02 |Let Your Heart Be Light
I had several stories that became incorporated into one pretty cool layout. We ran into some challenges, they kind of broke me down, I cried, and then I set about trying to reframe my brain to find some way to regain the sense of joy. We found this cute little plaid Santa hat and I only bought it because it matched that plaid patterned paper perfectly. And so I did a little photo shoot of myself, laughing and being light hearted. I came up with this idea for creating a cut file that could flip out using the phrase, Let your heart be light. I wanted it to look like it was popping off the page. So I went into Photoshop, and the Silhouette software, and I consulted with our friend Meg to create this! I will be sending that SVG file out next week to our Newsletter subscribers, so make sure you are signed up in the sidebar on your right!
I cut the file from plain white card stock and adhered it to the plaid paper. I grabbed these fun Studio Calico film strips and added photos + fun little embellishments and placed those on the diagonal. I added my date using that Studio Calico alphabet and number stamp set on top of an Elle’s Studio tag. The All is not calm stamp is from Paislee Press, and the puffy star is Ali Edwards. All of the embellishments on the film strips are also Ali Edwards. For my journaling, I created a list of ways I have been brave. Paper strips are the best way to add journaling, and that is exactly what I did here!
Day 03 | Christmas Spirit
For Day 03 I decided to tell the story about our sofa that took nine months to arrive! We ordered this lovely sofa from Pottery Barn back in March, and originally it was supposed to take 12 weeks. They have moved the delivery date many times, but finally a week before Thanksgiving it arrived! We were worried that we wouldn’t have it at all this year, and at one point the told us it would be Christmas Eve! But we are so delighted to have our new sofa, and I have been loving adding blankets and pillows to make it so comfy and cozy!
I used one of the Ali Edwards photo templates from the December Daily release this year: 2021 Digital Layered Template Pack. My approach when using these templates is to add my photos, journaling, and other elements in Photoshop, and then deconstruct it. I print different layers/elements on different types of papers, cut them out, and then put it all back together. For this page, My journaling and the photo blocks are printed on the base layer, which is matte card stock (Staples brand). The photos were printed on Semi-gloss HP photo paper, and the Christmas Spirit block is printed on vellum. Everything was printed at 70%, and I just turn off the Layers for each print as necessary. I cut the base layer out so it had a border, and then adhered everything on top. Don’t you know, I cut my patterned paper too short (it’s from Felicity Jane Holly), so I added the red washi tape to cover that up! The number 3 is from Freckled Fawn, the wood pieces are Colorcast Designs, and the washi tapes are from Crate Paper.
That is what I have for today! See you back here again soon.
