Clique Kits Creative Team | Scrapbook Layout With Cape May Kit
Hi friends and welcome back! Today I am sharing a layout I’ve created for the Clique Kits Creative Team using the Cape May Kit. This kit is filled with beautiful summer-themed products, including this patterned paper from Vicki Boutin. It inspired me to incorporate sunburst and circle elements across my page, and I think you’ll enjoy seeing how I play with these on this page! You can also see this layout in the Clique Kits blog here: Clique Kits Summer Time Layout. Check out how it all came together here!
My idea for this page began with this patterned paper from Vicki Boutin called Sunny Side Up. I loved how it had a sun which would fit a round photo perfectly as a focal point, and the sunbursts inspired me to recreate that in other ways on the layout. My other favorite product from this kit were the enamel dots from Fancy Pants, and I imagined they would be cute in a starburst pattern right around my photo. So that was my starting point, and as you can see in my process video, that part worked out great and then it went delightfully off the rails.
I’m not sure really what inspired me to cut the patterned paper in half, but I think in my mind I was envisioning the enamel dots cascading down into white space. So once I had those all in place, I realized that the white space made it feel like the bottom half of the layout just kind of fell off the face of the earth. Ha! I added the tiny red patterned paper strip underneath the sunburst, and then played around a bit with adding the blue part of that paper back to the bottom. This helped ground the page design, and it also gave me opportunities to add the little chipboard circle from Studio Calico, along with stamping. The stamp set I used is the Celebrate Summer stamp set (retired) from Elle’s Studio. At that point, I cut down the layout to just around the patterned papers, and then located a beautiful teal card stock to use as a background for it. I don’t see where this particular color is still available, but here are some other options from Scrapbook.com that might work as well: Teal Bazzill Card Stock Search.
I had fun playing with all the circle elements, especially stamping the circles so they appear to just peek out from underneath the patterned papers. Then I stamped my date and a word sentiment above the circles to keep the fun going. These Vicki Boutin papers took the ink so beautifully! One final touch before I finished, I added the sun stamps onto the card stock and had them peeking out from behind the layout too, again just playing with circles and sunbursts all throughout!
Thanks for playing along with me today! I had so much fun creating this layout and I hope you are inspired to repeat an element in your next page too, like I did here. See you again soon.
