2019 Project Life Weeks 09 and 10 | Studio Calico Documenter Lucky Charm
Hello Lovelies! Today I am excited to share Weeks 09 and 10 in my 2019 Project Life album with you! Yesterday I shared how I designed this layout and printed it using the Print To Pocket Action No. 01, and today we are going to get to the fun part: journaling and embellishing the layout. Check out the process video below.
I am absolutely loving the pace I am keeping with two layouts per spread in this album. I always encourage my students in my class to take a good look at the volume of photos they are taking each week/month. Right now my personal pace is matching well with two weeks in a layout, and I am really loving getting two weeks completed at a time. The best part about really setting your pace is that you will feel accomplished in your memory keeping! Let’s take a closer look at the details on this layout.
Our stories for Week 09 included a travel week for Alan to White Plains, which meant single parenting for me for a few days! I also was filming for my class, In My Pocket, so I had a selfie from that. Another really wonderful story was about how our former bus driver in our neighborhood went viral on the internet for buying Valentine’s candy for his bus riders. I took a photo of Natalie watching the news story about then journaled about that.
As always, I began my layout with the date card, in the top left corner. I used a journal card that had several colors to pull from, and layered the vellum number on top. I am having more fun with my date cards this year! This one is quite simple: only the week number and the dates.
I am continuing my commitment to get myself into my albums this year, which is helped by filming regularly for my classes! I am not incredibly comfortable in front of the camera, but every week I take a few minutes to take a few photos of myself before filming. It can be challenging, for those of us who weren’t photographed a whole lot growing up, to get comfortable seeing ourselves in photos. I am embracing this practice and actually have been surprised at how pretty these photos turn out. I don’t mean that in a conceited way, but rather in a way that helps me feel better about myself and my photos!
I was very happy with the written words I had on this layout as well! I used all of the middle 3×4 cards for journaling in some way or another, and that makes me so happy! I try not to beat myself up over the amount of journaling – there is no right or wrong – but the weeks that there is lots to say are cool.
Alan was traveling this week and sent me these two photos from his trip. I love including his journeys into these albums and I especially love writing about how we deal with these trips. They give me the opportunity to parent in ways I don’t normally (such as getting up with our early bus riders!) and these are important stories to include.
Week 10 was back to normal, Alan back at home so we had a few date nights. I also had a chance to photograph our albums in their home in my studio, and it makes me incredibly happy to see them there! We also have been turning on the fireplace lately, and one evening we had a blanket in front of it. Our cat Zoe found the blanket and the warmth to be the perfect spot for her nap, so we joined her.
I had used the vellum number on the left side, so I continued that here and layered it on a different journal card. Still the same colorway, still just functional and so pretty.
I had lots of journaling on the other side, so I didn’t feel pressure to write a lot here. Notice how I always alternate journaling cards so there is a mix of text with photo, color with black and white.
Thanks so much for joining me today! What a fun layout and a great project for memory keeping. See you again soon!
