Project Life 2017 Week 35 | Using Sahlin Studio Monthly Cards & Like A Boss!!!
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing this lovely layout from my 2017 Project Life album for Week 35. I am using the Sahlin Studio Monthly calendar cards and the Like A Boss kit. Have a look at my entire process here.
Our stories for this particular week included a heavy travel week for Alan, so preparations for that, taking care of the kids via solo parenting for me, and some awesome photos that Alan took while he was in Texas!
I am loving the beautiful colors on the Monthly calendar cards from Sahlin Studio! In our creative world it can be difficult sometimes to choose a kit or product to use in our layouts, but I’ve used this calendar card as a jumping off point for the whole layout. I looked in the Sahlin Studio shop to see what other collections feature this color, and Like A Boss was an immediate winner! Yay for easy decision-making!
I’ve printed only the journaling cards I needed to complete my layout, and my formula for selecting those is also pretty straightforward: print your favorites. Print the ones you LOVE. I was listening to another scrapbooker a few days ago who repeated this sentiment. Instead of saving the ones you love, go ahead and USE the ones you love. You’ll be so glad you did!
I’ve added just a few tiny embellishments to some of the cards, the leaves here are from Felicity Jane, as is the rubber Home Sweet Home piece. The wood 2017 veneer is from a Gossamer Blue kit several years back.
I have also used a few tiny embellishments from Freckled Fawn. I have to tell you guys, the embellishment kits are always near my desk and I reach for them on almost every layout I make! Here the labels, the chipboard word sticker, and the washi tape add simple touches.
For the second page I’ve included a photo of the kids while we were having dinner. The story is about Addison trying to tell us all about some things that they were going over in class, but it was pretty far over my head so I know it was over the others’ heads too! He forgets he is the oldest (and no doubt the smartest too!). But I am in awe of him, even when I have to remind him that what happens in his classes needs to stay in his classes, and how bright he is. He has a very acute memory!
Since I had most of my journaling complete, and the title card done, this 4×6 card with the fun squares becomes a filler card and just a place to have fun. So I added just the tiniest embellishments that would fit inside those squares! They of course repeat the colors and textures across the page and give an awesome opportunity to use them up!
What a fun layout, thank you for following along today! See you again soon!
