FOMAM (Fear of Making a Mistake) Scrapbook Layout | ATL Big City
Hi guys! Today I am showing you one of my techniques that I like to use in order to use up some of my patterned papers. Have a look at my process video today where I am creating a travel-themed layout across two pages, using NINE photos!
Ok, so I realize that it has been a long time since I have created a two-page spread and that I have never shown one here on my blog/channel! How fun! Here is a look at the completed layout in its entirety:

To begin the layout, I laid out all of the photos and decided first how I wanted the photos to be arranged on the page. My main design principle here was balance, particularly asymmetrical balance. That means that if you place an imaginary x/y axis over the layout, each quadrant is almost mirrored, but not quite.
Once I decided where the photos would go, I grabbed my watercolors and painted a few accent areas directly onto the white cardstock. I also splattered a few navy splatters. I love the visual interest that provides to the plain background.
After the painting, I cut into my papers. I chose a few of my favorites and a few not-so-favorites and cut them in random strips. Then I arranged them onto the white cardstock in the order I wanted them to be layered underneath the photos. Once I had that decided on, I cut them all in half so that part of the strips would be under the top and another part would be under the bottom of the photos.
After taping it all down, the fun begins. All of the layers now provide happy homes for stamps and embellishments!
I also wanted to create a knock-out title using these amazing chipboard alphas from Pink Paislee. These might be my favorite alphas all year long, I’m not sure!
I did not write a ton of journaling on this layout, just a who and what of the day.
To me, this is just what traditional scrapbooking really is all about: great photos of a fun event, layered on top of happy patterns and fun embellishments. I did not do a lot of thinking while I created, just put things down and watched it come about.
