IMP Design Team Ashley Krueger | January Pocket Pages
Hey friends! My name is Ashley and I am part of the Spring 2022 Blog Team. You may remember me as part of the 2021 Light The Path Team. I am so excited to be back sharing my projects with you here on Theresa’s blog.
Today, I wanted to talk about how I set up my annual albums while sharing my January pages. My biggest memory keeping goal for 2022 is to finish some of my missing albums. I have started some sort of pocket page album for every year 2015-2019. There aren’t many pages put together but bits and pieces gathered and tons of photos printed. This year I am changing that.
I am currently working on my 2015 Project Life album in a 12×12 format. In 2014, I switched over to a monthly approach instead of weekly and it is how I plan to document my missing years as well. To help me tackle the pages, I try to focus on my favorite photos from the month and telling a few of my favorite or the most important stories from the month. Today’s spread is documenting January in 2015. All of the photos were printed and embellished, and a handful of stories were already told. I just needed to add journaling and a few finishing embellishments.
When I am working on bigger projects like a year long album or a bigger vacation, I find it easy for the pages to look disjointed. One way I like build cohesion into my album is including repeated elements. For this album, my plan is to incorporate these lovely PaperHum Monthly Journal Card Overlays each month. Here I am using the January overlay as my title card for the spread.
Another strategy I use when going back to finish an album is to stick to one collection or color palette. The IMP Life Stories Kit and The Practical Scrapper Everyday Life Kit both have a similar color palette that also coordinate with some of the cards I had already chosen when I previously started this layout. Moving to the right hand side, I had two more stories I wanted to add and chose coordinating journal cards from the Life Stories Kit.
The card with the pink border was used to talk about reaching the end of the 2nd trimester of my pregnancy. It was embellished with a hexagon label and a stamp from my stash. I used the same stamp set to add an embellishment that said “days till baby”. I layered it over one of the floral diecuts from the Life Stories kit and added it to the photo. The second card was kraft with a floral wreath. I also chose a coordinating journal card from The Practical Scrapper’s Everyday Life Kit to be a spot for hidden journaling underneath. To indicate the continued story, and help with pulling the card out, I added a tab from my stash to the top right edge.
After those two cards and the photo embellishment, all that was left was one single pocket on the right hand side. I didn’t have another story to tell or photo I felt needed to be added. I decided on a 3×4 filler card made from a 4×6 cards from the Everyday Life Kit and one of the die cut stickers from the Life Stories Kit. I love how well the two kits coordinated and gave my pages such a cohesive feel despite being started and finished several years apart.
