IMP Blog Team Jill Kane | Designs for the Year

Hey all, Jill here. Are you excited about your 2022 documenting plans? I hope so! Do you like to plan for consistency in year-long documenting projects? In reviewing my favorite past work, I’ve realized that I tend to include a color, a pattern, a font consistently throughout the project. I was excited to see the IMP designers included some month and calendar pieces in their offerings this month. Makes bringing in consistency as easy as printing pieces out now and keeping them front and center in your product storage! (Is that easy though? Hmmm, the work of product storage…a whole other topic!).
In addition to using the One Little Word Journal this year, I will add pages to the 6×8 ring binder album I used for my 2021 OLW. I use a mix of page protectors and punched papers in this album and I plan to incorporate Paper Hum’s 3×4 Monthly Journal Cards this year. The PDF file printed so well on vellum! For each month, I will pair them with 3×4 cards from my stash.

Remember eyelets? That’s a blast from the past, right?! This is how I plan to attach the vellum to the cards. Just adds a little extra something. I’m starting out the album this way, defining how I feel about craft through filling up some pockets with designs.

Do you ever print on patterned paper? I don’t do it often, but I was reminded how much I love the look when I printed the C.S. Lewis quote for Papierstudio’s Happy New Year digital stamp set. I’m really feeling that sentiment right now.
I encourage you to pull out some supplies that you *love right now* (doesn’t matter how old they are) and take a look at the great digital files the IMP designers created this month. What can you combine in where you have gaps in sentiments, paper designs or seasonal themes?
Are you a “create consistency” or “let’s mix it all up” designer when building your albums? Does it depend on the project you’re working on? It’s a fun topic to consider. Would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Feel free to comment below, in the FB In My Pocket Memory Keeping group or on my IG @jillkane25. Thanks!
